There are many reasons why this is a great sleeping pad: 1. It’s pack size is relatively small compared to other sleeping pads in this price range. You will have a hard time finding a smaller packing pad. 2. It’s R value is great for the price point. This pad is nearly half the price of other pads with the same R value. 3. The price point is perfect for someone who is backpacking/camping on a budget. It has a better value than all other brands. 4. It’s easy to inflate and deflate and pack away. 5. I wouldn’t consider this “lightweight” but it is a relatively light sleeping pad compared to foam pads.
So I was looking for an affordable sleeping pad for my 12 year old to take backpacking. Size and weight were not a huge issue because she only carries her clothing, personal items, and sleeping bag/pad. I was expecting this pad to be about like my original Thermarest from 20 years ago. It was not. Original Thermarest from 20 years ago was better. Why? Mostly because of how difficult it is to deflate and then roll back into any reasonable shape. Could not get it back into original bag so tried to roll and strap on the bottom of her pack. This didn’t work well either. A foldable foam pad would be an improvement on this inflatable pad, which is what I intend to do so I returned it. This pad is heavy, bulky, and awkward. For car camping it would work.
I used this pad for hot tent camping. I was in weather that got down to about 28F, my sleeping bag is rated at 20F comfort, and I did not feel any cold from the ground. There was a ground sheet and this pad between my bag and the ground, and I felt and saw no issues. Self inflating for the most part, manual topping off will be needed, and packing up was very easy too. Not for backpacking as it is bulky when stowed away. For the price, I would highly recommend this air pad
I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised by this sleeping pad. At first it seemed rather stiff and awkward right out of the packaging but opening the valve to inflate and then walking on it (with valve open) helped to break it in. At 1 1/2 inches thick this pad is much more comfortable than any others that I have tried for camping. So far no problems with the width and no falling off sensations while moving around. Absolutely no complaints about the price. After a combined three weeks of use this one's a keeper.
I slept in temps down to 35°f and this helped retain my body heat very well. It doesn’t pack down very well and was the 2nd largest piece of equipment in my pack. However, at this price point and for how comfortable the experience was, I would recommend this product. The pad is light anyways and I had plenty of room in my pack to allocate towards it. It does take time to offgas maybe 10min, I’d set up first thing and then tend towards other tasks
I slept on this for several days. And I must say it’s not bad. R value of 4.7 kept me warm. It was sturdy and comfortable despite only being 1.5 inches thick. Great for car camping. Probably a little to big for backing. I’m a side sleeper so it was just the right width for me. At 6’0 and 300lbs. It worked for me.
Bought two of these for my children for our recent camping. They held up well, and I was pleasantly surprised by how firm they feel (feel more like 2" thick). Also, they inflate quick. Only slight shortcoming is that they have a simple valve which makes deflation a bit of a chore. But overall I recommend these as being worth the price.
My boyfriend and I had been looking for a set of pads that wouldn't cost us $190+. These were great, kept us warm and comfortable. These are great. We haven't had problems rolling them up, they pack down nicely!
bought this for my 6yo to sleep on when camping with scouts. I only wish it had a Separate inflate and deflate valve. my son loves the pad and it's easy enough to clean. I recommend!
After four uses the pad developed a leak near the valve. I repaired this leak and found no additional leaks. The next use the pad still lost air once I put my weight on it.
