As soon as it arrived I opened it up and tested its self inflate feature and after a few hours, they only recommended waiting 30 mins, it hadn’t inflated at all and yes I opened the valve and gave it a couple of breaths. I then blew it by myself which was very quick with only 10-15 breaths and sleep on it that night and it was very comfortable. I live REI gear and I’m sure it will do well for many nights to come but the self inflating feature just didn’t work which is cool because I grew up blowing them up manually so whatever. It just would have been a cool feature.
I was told at the REI store when I bought the pad, that it needed to be inflated manually the first time, so I did that before our trip. It worked great on trip. I did give it two extra puffs to get bumpers to fill also before I slept on it. Super comfortable for its size and light weight. Bumpers work great for keeping you on the pad. When time to put away, I had no problem getting it rolled to much smaller than the carry-bag. I roll it carefully a couple times to work out the air. Highly recommend this product so far!
This sleeping pad is very comfortable and not too heavy/bulky, which is what I was looking for a first-time backpacking trip, and not too excessive with respect to price. It is, however, difficult to roll-up and fit back into its original packaging and does NOT self-inflate (I waited 48 hours). I needed to purchase REI's sleeping pad pump, as I would have likely passed out trying to inflate it with my breath.
I’m not sure if I under inflated or left the inflate tab closed overnight. Anyways the thing worked well but slightly deflated overnight. Not sure if user error or just something about it. It was warm for such a thin pad and fit nicely in my tent. I had to place myself just right or else my feet feel like falling off. This would work well with a mummy sleeping bag. It fit me nicely at 5’8
This is pretty comfortable, but it does not self inflate and is very bulky. I wouldn’t recommend this backpacking but would for car camping
