Good all around tire for a variety of conditions
Good all around tires. Rode the Trail King front and rear in south eastern Massachusetts on trails that are rocky (baby heads, rock gardens, loose rock, gravel, etc.), rooty, a bit sandy, and a bit muddy and they did well. Will have to see how they deal with Louisiana mud in the fall. They respond well to rider error and I never felt like the tires were holding me back. They offer good traction while climbing, descending, and braking. Not sure how they do when leaning the bike in corners, but overall they offer good traction across a wide variety of terrain (see above). I run them 30-40 PSI. On hard packed fire roads and pavement they are a bit noisy and/or have some knob vibration, but on trails they run fine. They look bigger than the 2.2 label when mounted, but I was looking for a higher volume tire. My frame says it will take a 2.25 tire and the rear tire was a close fit so check your clearance. So far I have about 80 miles on them and they seem to be holding up fine. Ordered online and picked up in store.
Near impossible to mount
These are the most difficult tires I've ever had to mount. After I mounted the first one (after much swearing and some trashed tire levers), it wouldn't seat properly on the rim so it wobbled when inflated (because of the tightness of the bead) no matter what I tried to do -- I even pinched the tube getting it mounted (that's a first). The second one was just as bad. I used baby powder, dish soap, manipulating. In the end I pulled them off because I couldn't get them to seat properly on the rims. I have two new Conti TKs that are USELESS.
Good tire
My experience is different from some of the other posted reviews. Mounted tire without difficulty. Didn’t need tire levers. Tire works great for what it was designed for. Excellent performance on trails. Would purchase again.
Easy Install, Great All Mountain Tire
This tire was very easy to install on a 19mm inner width rim.The reviews that complain that there are "flat spots" on the tires are amateurs who did not properly seat the bead onto the rim. You need to bring the PSI up to about 35 before these pop. They will hold air even if they aren't properly seated but guess what? there will be "flat spots". DERRRRRRR On the trail these are perfect for an all mountain hardtail that isn't going to get into anything too technical or sloppy. They handle loamy as well as dry and if you keep the pressure low they will climb and roll thru most rock gardens with no worries. The wide spacing between knobs clears out mud better than my Maxxis Minion DHF, too! Great tire for almost $20 less than the Maxxis, too! If you are on the fence I suggest giving these a shot.
Nice tire
I’ve installed this onto an old trek 90s bike, which originally had 2.1 inch tires. Although this tire is tubeless ready, it was still easy to pop the tire, tire insert and tube on to the rim. Since it has a bead, it required some tire levers to get the last bits on. It kept me from washing out on dirt trails compared to my older tires.
very impressed
Been riding this on the rear wheel for a few months now, held up great, lots of grip, looks super sharp on the bike, love the tire all around I'm very impressed with the quality of the tire for the lower price range!
Good tire, good price
I bought a pair of these for a hardtail mountain bike that I am building up for my daughter. Still putting the finishing touches on the bike, but the tires are good and the price was right. She should be fine out on the trails with these.
difficult to install
This is the most difficult tire to install that I have ever tried. In the process, 3 tubes were pinched and I decided to opt for another option. 3 hours wasted.
Quality control issues
Nice looking tire but it has a significant flat spot. Not a rim or tube issue. Will have to be returned.
Grippy, durable tires!
Excellent tires. Very grippy, durable, not too heavy. These make the dirt and roots seem like child's play! Would definitely recommend.
