Didn't last a year!
After wearing these boots for less than a year, the leather is cracked in four places. The lining has worn through.
Poorly made and uncomfortable
The lace holders around the ankles snapped off on the first day. I contacted Madshus customer support asking what material they were so I could find the appropriate glue to reattach but never heard back. I ended up attaching new lace holders purchased online with a bolt (the plastic was too brittle for a rivet). Additionally, these are extremely uncomfortable. The material over the instep flexes in a different pattern than the rest of the boot, which causes it to pinch down on my toes when my heels lift. In a normal year, I would have returned these straight away.
Ankle cuffs snapped, weirdly squishy
Echoing what other reviewers said- the plastic ankle cuffs snapped off on the first day, and they were designed in such a way that they would never really provide support in the first place. The insulation was cheap and didn't hold your foot in a useful way, nor were the boots roomy and comfortable for striding.
Control and comfort
I find these boots to be far superior to other brands I have used. They are easy to tie and they provide comfort and control on the trail.
