Not enough stretch to cover boots

Returning these. I have another pair, from a previous year. The "large" stretches to fit over my W size 9.5 (41) boots and they keep my feet warm. But in this version there are these un-stretchable panels (orange on the photo) that don't allow as much stretch ... so I can't as easily get them over my X-10 class or skate boots. Maybe they'd fit on sleeker boots, but not mine.
