Different than expected
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first saw this product, I expected it to be a cream by the name, but thats not what it is. This is more like a natural coconut oil that solidifies and melts with the heat of your skin. I rubbed my ringers around the tin and it melted and I was able to easily apply to my face. I went oit on a hot day and spent several hours in the sun and I didn't get a sunburn at all, so it definitely does it's job. I feel like it will last a long time because you're not scooping out tons of product.
Great Overall
I love that this is Zero waste packaging, and I love the ingredients as well. Sadly for me, I am a red head and the 30 spf is really not enough. My face didn’t burn, but I was able to layer it on pretty well. The rest of my body is another story. It did not break my face out, and I have acne-prone skin. The white cast wasn’t that bad but I’d don’t care about that anyways because I’d rather be wearing sunscreen that’s safe for the environment than bad for it just because it looks ‘good’. Will probably keep getting this tho because AllGood’s 50 spf is wayyy more expensive. Also thank you for selling this REI! I live in Wichita and it’s hard to find zero waste items in store here.
Full protection
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a thick lightweight cream, yet smooth enough to apply and melts onto your skin or in your hands when rubbed together. I thought it would be oily being it starts off that way, but it sets in after a few minutes. You only need to use a small amount to be protected and moisturized. I like that it left no residue or greasiness behind. What I don't like is the way this smells. Overall it seems like a decent product that would take some time for me to get use to.
Smooth but heavily scented
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was interested in trying a thicker sunblock to see if it would be similar to the stick types. When I first opened the tin, I got hit with a really musty smell and wasn't sure if I could power over it to put it in my skin. I'm very sensitive to scented stuff. Luckily, the sunblock didn't leave a lot of residue and it wasn't smelly going on. I love that this doesn't come out of a plastic bottle and it's reef friendly! Perfect for my upcoming Hawaii trip.
Great Reef Safe and Zero Waste Option!
I’ve been searching and searching for a Sunscreen that offered both Reef Safe/Skincare Forward Ingredients in either glass or a tin...finally found what I’ve been looking for. This Sunscreen does leave behind a white cast like many Zinc Oxide Sunscreens...but it fades in a few minutes and isn’t a deal breaker for me. The Oils and Extracts here leave Skin feeling soft, smoothed, and well nourished. I’m a total fan of this Sunscreen and I’ll be coming back for this and other Raw Elements Products!
effective, environment friendly, minimal packaging
I bought this sunscreen initially because it has the least amount of packaging and is rated safe for aquatic life. As an REI employee at the time, I could also see that it was shipped with minimal extra plastic. As a rub-on cream It is perhaps less convenient than a spray bottle or squeeze tube, but is that half minute of convenience really worth having a package or pieces of it that will be around for thousands of years? This aluminium packaging is readily recyclable, and lightweight for shipping and personal packing. I keep this in my backpack for my work commute by bicycle. I am someone who sunburns within minutes, and this sunscreen has gotten me home through some of the hottest Utah weather (2021 heatwave) without a sunburn.
goes on easily and doesn't turn us white
I have used this several times on my extremely fair and tattooed skin. I also use it regularly on my 5 year old. I love that it's all natural, reef safe and not packaged in plastic. It doesn't turn us ghostly pale, nor does it make me feel like my skin is smothered. It applies so nicely! It's not too thick and sticky. When you're trying to slather up a little one that's ready for adventure, easy application is essential!

I love this sunscreen. At first, I thought it was too greasy and thick, but after figuring out how to work with it, I have really fallen in love with it. I use it as a primer under my liquid foundation and it gives me a nice dewy glow which I love. This doesn’t clog my pores and sits comfortably on my skin after getting used to it. I love the smooth texture, I love the ingredients, I love the formula, I love the scent! As someone who is sensitive to essential oils and fragrance, and breaks out in a rash easily, the simple ingredients are perfect for my skin! Super moisturizing! Please don’t add scent to this. Please never change the formula!
Good for Brown Skin
I love this product. I had been looking for a natural, mineral sunscreen that did not leave my brown skin coved in a white/blue tint. This definitely left me satisfied. I bought this and two other products from the same brand. It does have a slight white cast but after working in, it was hardly noticeable on me. And not a all on my fair skinned two year old daughter. Its great for the whole family; kids, adults, sensitive, and breakout prone skin.
