Skin protected, reefs saved, smells amazing

Being a Marine Biologist in South Florida, and conscious of the plight of our dying coral reefs and the multiple things that can affect them, I decided to do my part to help them in whatever little way I can. So I bought the Sun Bum Mineral SPF 50 for all the members of my family. I am very impressed with this product and use it all the time. It is a little tougher to rub into the skin than other not mineral sunblock but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make to help save and protect the reefs. Also, because it goes in deep, it protects very well against the sun. And on top of that, it smells amazing!!!

Solid option

I’m a fan of this sunscreen. It smells like coconut rather than chemicals, it rubs in more easily than other mineral sunscreens and it provides real protection (I recently put it to the test swimming in Maui). Like other sunscreens, you will still need to reapply frequently. One thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is that I had to email Sun Bum to confirm that it was non-nano (reef safe). The company assured me it was, but I would like Sun Bum to make this clear on the packaging so others know this is a compliant option.

“That man with the beard

“That man with the beard has a lot of sunscreen on…” Seriously, though. Just spent two weeks sailing, diving and hiking around Queensland, Australia. Best sunscreen…All tans, no burns. Thank you, Sonny

Difficult to rub in clear and smells

There’s no way this product is getting real reviews stating “no white residue” and “smells great!” First off, it is incredibly difficult to rub clear. I am white with a slight tan and this stuff is WHITE. Even after rubbing it completely into the skin, it leaves a hazy residue. And then the smell is awful. I was at a ball game and thought the nasty old sunscreen smell was the people next to me. I get into the car and realize it was me! My arms (where I applied this sunscreen) smelled so bad. Almost like a mildewy sunscreen. I can’t even describe it. Just know, Sun Bum really dropped the ball with this product.

I do not love this

I had such high hopes reading the reviews that said this sunscreen isn't sticky like other formulas. I was greatly disappointed. I don't know what those reviews are talking about. I absolutely hate the feeling of it. I was hoping it'd be like the face mineral sunscreen, which rubs in smoothly and evenly and doesn't feel sticky or oily, it's not at all like that. Its super thick, it never rubs in well even when you barely put any on, there's a ton of white cast, it's super sticky and feels so thick, sticky and gross on my skin and rubs off on everything, even a couple hours after applying. It's sticky and thick until either you clean it off or it runs off entirely. I'm so bummed.

I went to a 5

I went to a 5 day, outdoor music festival with minimal shade for the entire time. I used Sun Bums mineral sunscreen in roll on, spray, face stick and lotion form and did not get a sunburn!! I am super super fair skinned so this was IMPRESSIVE. I also have very sensitive skin and have never had a reaction! Below is the photo of how much sunscreen I went through ;)

Awesome sun protection for sensitive skin!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the opportunity to try Sun Bum Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen on both myself and my 3-year-old daughter. We have sensitive skin and a history of eczema, and so I am always searching for sun protection products that keeps us safe without the harsh chemicals. Sun Bum sunscreen is not only hypoallergenic, but is also free from parabens and harmful "-oxides." This sunscreen smells like the beach in a bottle; the light coconut-like scent is absolutely incredible! Application is a huge positive, as this sunscreen is lightweight and left no greasy residue behind, despite being zinc-based. I love that Sun Bum sunscreen is broad-spectrum and waterproof. With a few applications (every 2 hours or 1.5 when swimming), Sun Bum protected our skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays across an entire weekend of outdoor fun. I have nothing but positive things to say about the Sun Bum brand, as it will now be our go-to sun screen. If you are looking for an effective brand that stands behind their mission to omit harmful chemicals from sun protection products, Trust the Bum!!!

Best mineral sunscreen I've tried

For me, the search for a go-to mineral sunscreen is over. This checks all the boxes. It works well as a sunscreen (at least for the 2.5-3 hours I'm out on my bike). It rubs on evenly and doesn't make me look like a ghost. It smells good. And it's reasonably priced.

Great Product

I purchased to use on my trip to Hawaii to prevent sunburn. I applied each time before entering the water and didn’t reapply and it worked for the several hours I was out in the sun and water.

No white cast, no smell, applies ez, dries matte

Great product: fairly fragrance free, hypoallergenic, 80min water resistance. After the easy rub in, my skin feels matte and not oily and not slick. There is not even the slightest hint of white cast. I used to wear a more affordable Blue Lizard sensitive sport mineral SPF50 sunscreen, but it is slightly oilier than Sunbum, and for So Cal climate BL felt okay. However, given that I needed an all body coverage at an island in humid tropical climate, I chose a drier feel sunscreen this time.
