Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent in various conditions I purchased these boots about 3 weeks ago, just a few days before a snow shoeing trip in the Boulder mountains of Idaho (near Sun Valley). I was a bit nervous buying new boots so close to the trip, but there was no break in period needed with these. They fit like a glove right out of the box. I snow shoe'd in about 3 feet of snow, breaking trail, and my feet stayed completely warm and dry. I've since worn these in rain, freezing rain, walking on ice, and hiking on packed snow. They've performed really well in every setting and I am more than satisfied. Plus, Vasque now makes wide sizes for women - which I bought 9W - but they don't look wide and clunky like many wide-width shoes. I've gotten lots of compliments on how slick they look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best! These boots are amazing and I love them. I live in WNY and work outside in all winter weather conditions. I bought these in the hopes of wearing them instead of a bulky overshoe. They have exceeded my expectations and have excelled in snow, torrential downpours, ice and negative temps. My feet have stayed completely dry and even without doubling up on socks, my feet have not once been cold. There was also no break-in period... I took them out of the box and walked 10 miles the next day with no problem. I love these boots!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Twice Broken Quick Lace Hooks I bought these boots a couple of months ago for a winter backpacking trip. About 3/4 mile in I had to stop and re-lace because I noticed that one of the quick lace hooks (not sure what you call them) had broken off (outside top right boot). I exchanged them for a new pair that weekend thinking maybe it was just a fluke, but then the next weekend the same thing happened on the new pair (but a different hook broke off - this time inside top right boot). Then another of the hooks came off!!! At this point I just returned them and purchased a different brand. I was disappointed because I thought the fit was great, and the boots were quite comfortable and lightweight. When I returned them the second time, the guy working at REI told me that others had returned them for the same issue. If Vasque were to change the placement of the hooks, or how they are held in place I would recommend them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No break in period I have delayed my review because I bought these boots for snowshoeing and unfortunately I have not gone yet. I have worn them in the cold weather and snow walking the dog around the neighborhood and they have kept my feet dry and warm. They are very comfortable I did not have to break them in and I did not have to put my orthotics in they are fine just as they are. I bought my regular size and wear fairly heavy socks they are fine with room in the toebox.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite shoes! I shopped for boots with a specific goal in mind - marching in Washington D.C. In January. January has the potential to be cold and/or wet. I needed very supportive waterproof, insulated boots to prevent pain and injury. The associate helped me find several boots. We settled on this and then found the right size. I've since been wearing these regularly just because I like them so well. Possibly my favorite pair of shoes! I'll almost regret it when the weather turns warmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable I've worn Vasque hikers in the past as I like the narrow fit and craftsmanship! These boots not only look great, they are warm! Not big and bulky like many of its cohorts. And the soles are much better than anything I saw from other makers. Excellent for snowshoes, winter hikes and all around winter sports!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For light snow use I got these for the upcoming snow treat in the Seattle area. I wanted something lightweight and not too hot, these are more like a lighter hiking boot/tennis shoe. They have more of a sporty/athletic shoe look than a heavy hiking boot. They do come in wide width which you have to ask for, yes, Vasquez, they have widths! I got a 7 wide and fits almost perfect; a little roomy but the width is perfect, nothing a good pair of high-volume Superfeet couldnt make perfect. Most boots are too narrow and meant for longer toes, these are a nice rounded toe for us with little short hooves! Boots keep feet warm but not too hot. Havent worn in serious rain yet, so I can't say if totally waterproof, but are rated as waterproof. They have a nice heel cup keeps heel in place really well. The boot top/material isnt too stiff, flexes like a tennis shoe. The tread isnt too deep either to grab pebbles. Good price point on these Vasquez boots. So far, so good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm dry feet keeps me happy These boots are comfortably fitting and keep my feet dry. There wasn't really a break in period for them. I live in mountains of SW Colorado where people joke that we have pretty much winter and mud season. In the two seasons I've had these boots I've put a lot of miles on them mountain hiking through mud, dirt, slush, and snow. Mud washes off these boots easily but more importantly they've been very waterproof. Seems like they'll last for a long time. I'll likely wear them well into summer as well up in the high mountains.

Questions & Answers

I have a 10.5m Vasquez breeze hiking boot. Is it safe to say I would wear the same size in the snow boot? Our local store rarely has the sizes to try on. Thanks!

Asked by: Tiff
We do recommend ordering the same size in Vasque snow boots that you wear in Vasque hiking boots.

So, I usually wear a size 8 - my Asolo boots are 8s, but I was wondering because these are insulated, should I look at getting a 8.5, or stick with an 8?

Asked by: em-rissa
Most customers find this boot to be true to size. If you will be wearing thicker socks with the boot, then you may choose to select a half size greater than your shoe size.

What is the temperature rating for these boots? I need something for below freezing temperatures, snow, and ice for a trip to Iceland. They also need to be waterproof. Thanks.

Asked by: 23mom
Vasque does not list a temperature rating for these boots. That said, they do have 200 grams of Thinsulate insulation and should keep your feet warm in the conditions described. They are also waterproof.

Because of a foot issue I need a stiff sole. It sounds like this boot is more flexible than some of your other winter hiking boots? I need them for winter walking on sidewalks and for snowshoeing.

Asked by: hettie

Would these boots be comfortable for hiking through Ireland in March (Expecting 40-50 degrees F)

Asked by: RonT
These are winter boots intended for snowy and icy conditions. Unless you generally have very cold feet, these may be too insulated for the conditions you describe. Hiking in 40-50 degrees F is normally done in comfort with normal hiking boots and appropriate socks.

I have very wide feet - I wear an 8 1/2 4E in a women's New Balance walking shoe. I'm looking for an insulated, waterproof boot for winter. Will these be wide enough in an 8 1/2 wide with wool socks?

Asked by: Sujo
These boots are available in a women's medium (B) width. Based on the information that you provided, the boots are not wide enough.
