I recently ordered a pair of boots from REI for $200, expecting them to be brand new. Unfortunately, the experience has been quite disappointing. The delivery took longer than usual compared to other products I’ve ordered from REI. When the boots finally arrived today, they were not in a shoe box or any proper packaging. The boots looked clean, but the shape was warped on the inner side of both boots. This warping makes me believe they have been worn before, as it seems to reflect where the boots bend during walking. This also raises concerns about the ankle support these boots would provide, as the warping suggests they may no longer offer the best support. Additionally, there was an orange sticker on the tag that said “100% guarantee,” which further suggests to me that these might be returned items rather than brand new. Given the warped condition, the signs of prior use, and the lack of proper packaging, I will be returning these boots. It’s frustrating to receive an item advertised as new in this state. Very disappointed with this purchase.
I really liked these boots, they are sturdy, good traction, warm as heck! But the ilet where the lace goes into came out after only wearing the boots twice. Hoping it was just a one time quality issue as I would consider buying them again. The material is thick by the tongue and lace so the first time I put them on, I realized these weren’t boots I could tighten the laces with, still it broke off and I am sad! Return in progress now)
I work in restoration along with a native nursery and I love these for snow days and cold days, I wear muck boots when it’s super wet but these boots keep my feet HOT in the cold weather. Super comfy and love the side zip.
