Love these so dang much. I only had them for 2 months before the lace eyelet hook broke off one boot but REI replaced them on my membership asap. I hope it was a fluke because they have been perfect footwear for where I've been taking them. I made under $15,000 this year I would happily budget to buy them all over again (even pre sale price:). So worth the comfort and warmth they provided me on so many PNW winter hikes and snowshoeing through miles of snow and ice. Slightly on the firm fitting side but my feet and ankles were just fine with it. I wear a size 9.5/10 and the 10.5 are perfect with a pair of intelligent wool hiking socks :)
These boots are perfect for cold, snow covered mountain hikes. A normal distance for me can range from 6 to 10 miles in all winter conditions, temps as low as in the teens and varied terrain from snow covered gravel roads to rugged single track. Though they are clearly not designed for trail running, I have run in them while out there and was comfortable. My feet stay warm, dry and comfortable. Size wise, I wear and 8.5 in trail running shoes and found the 8.5 in these was good, I had room for a thicker sock if necessary. I will make a suggestion though. If you are going to be on slick icy roads or if trail conditions are icy or sloppy, I recommend using some type of "cleats" such as Stabilicers with them.
I highly recommend for people who have high arches that collapse when walking. There is built in support for arches (if you prefer very flat shoes, these probably won't work for you) however, if you like shoe brands like Vionics (or those orthopedic shoes for plantar fascitiis, but are back on their feet again) these are your outdoor counterpart shoe for you. There is incredible heel support as well so you can trek through snow. I wore these for a full day to break them in and my feet did not hurt at all. I walked up a snowy/icy driveway and felt very stable as well. The shoe fits very true to size in my opinion.
My regular Oboz Bridgers are my favorite hiking boots I’ve ever owned and I miss them in the winter when I switch over to a winter boot. That’s why I was so happy to discover that they make this winter version of the Bridger. The 7” insulated winter boots just arrived today and I couldn’t be happier with them. The fit is perfect (true to size) with a midweight hiking sock and they are so warm and comfortable I didn’t want to take them off. I expect they’ll be just as great to hike in as my original Bridgers. Love that they have a ring to attach gaiters and a winter specific sole. I’m looking forward to getting out on the trails this weekend to try them out.
I originally bought these for snowshoeing. They performed admirably, no issues there. On a regular hike (no snow) where I had to cross a few creeks my Sawtooth boots took in water so today, I wore these instead because I knew I'd be crossing creeks and it was raining. My feet stayed warm and completely dry after crossing ankle deep multiple times, pounded by rain the entire hike. They were comfortable right out of the box, I replaced the insoles with my own because I have goofy feet but otherwise they had that custom fit feel from the start. Oboz is definitely my new favorite brand for hiking boots.
I tried a number of boots on before I found these. I'd suggest getting measured in the store as I got some bad advice to "buy a size down". Turns out I have a wide left foot and a longer right foot. I found that a lot of the winter hiking boots had a very low toe box that pushed down on my toes; these had plenty of room. I wore these for a few miles on the treadmill to break them in prior to going to Iceland where I wore them hiking for 40+ miles. They are super warm and comfortable. I ended up accidentally dunking my foot into ice water on a glacier. The water gushed over the top and into the boot. My feet stayed warm until I took them off! I'd definitely recommend them.
They work... the ankle/heel part on the inside came apart and after 1 year REI won't cover them. For 200$ and it isn't covered I'm not blown away. Good boots while they lasted but for $200 and they didn't last even a full 2 winters.. I don't love them and I won't be back for more.
Hi, I got a pair of these for my Lone Pine and Mammoth Lakes winter trip for snowshoeing. As I my last pair of another reputable brand Gore Tex boots completely wet out (think sloshing water in the toe box) on the first day of a similar trip at Lassen National Park last June (yes, there was still snow in June), all I really wanted was dry boots. The Oboz were dry, supportive, comfortable, and warm in below freezing days. Love them! I particularly like the feature on the heel that helps my shoeshoe strap stay in place. The colors also work for me. :) I wore these boots for five days straight, in the snow, with snowshoes for about 5 hours each day. No problems.
These are my second pair of Oboz winter hikers. Boots are personal, but these are great for me. They are roomy in the toe box and narrow enough at the heel that they don’t slip around. Great traction. Really good for a hike through a snowy wood or errand in town in bad weather. My feet stay dry even after half a day standing in snow! They are warm, but Oregon warm, not Wisconsin warm. I used them both places, but can’t stay out in the snow with them in temperature in the single digits. I would need more insulation for that. Love these boots! Still solid quality. Worth the money.
These boots fit well and they feel comfortable. However, after 2 hours in the snow they were not waterproof, see picture attached. They are warm though, but my feet were soaked and wet. You probably have to treat them with some type of waterproofing spray, the specs are misleading on this one.
