I bought these for an upcoming trip to Iceland. My main concern when shopping around was warmth and grip and these seemed to hit both aspects. 2 days after buying them, mind you having never worn them besides trying them on in store, I went to put them on to wear them around for the day and break them in. As I tightened the laces on the right boot, the metal lace holder on the outside of the boot completely popped off of the shoes making them un-wearable as I could no longer lace them up properly. Super disappointed with the quality of this shoe considering how expensive they are. Thankful this happened before my trip and not in the middle of it as I would have been screwed. Will be returning and will not be replacing with Salomon. Be warned these shoes are not made with quality in mind!
I bought a pair last winter. They are sold as waterproof. They are NOT waterproof. Within seconds of walking on grass with just dew, they are quite wet on the inside. They get soaked even if I walk in wet terrain although it is no longer raining. I am quite disappointed in these Salomon boots. Not worth the money at all. They were NOT waterproof from the first time I put them on.
Warm and Waterproof. I am very happy with my purchase.
I bought the Solomon insulated hiking Boot and as with all Solomon products, loved it. It fits perfectly right out of the box. No need to break it in. It’s just super comfortable right from the start. Already I worn this boot in cold Cole, climate snow conditions, and in wet watery, hiking conditions, as well as using them for the boot for snowshoeing. Perfect. So what matters most to me is that this is a lightweight multi climate high functioning boot. It doesn’t hurt that it looks great too
After using these boots during the midwest winter, I can say they'll be staying for the next winter to come. PROS: Lightweight, warm, snug/secure fit(but not tight), durable, and waterproof and had a good thread pattern on the sole of the shoes to prevent slipping and great great for elevation. Biggest things I looked for while shopping for new winter boots were to keep my feet warm during extended periods outside and dry. And these were perfect, keeping my feet warm but not sweaty through snow and thick slush. The temperature ratings stay true as advertised while being comfortable to wear outside in single digit temperatures (F). CONS: After extended of physical activity, the laces tend to untie unless you double knot them. Kind of annoying having to "retie" every time I'm putting them off and on but the "speed" lacing system it has makes it quick.
Have had several Salomon hiking boots in past and loved them all. The x Ultra Snowpilot winter book didn’t fall in my love category . The lace system did not work well. The top Porto of the lace comes of of the boot. Under the tongue and puts pressure on ankle. Tried adjusting Devi times and diffy ways. Without luck. Also. Wrong height for a winter boot. Too low if snow b is deep
Hi, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We always strive to improve! Your feedback has been helpful for us!
They fit comfortably from the second I took them out of the box. They're exactly the right weight for our few inches of snow, without turning into a drag on my soul. I've already accidentally tracked mud all over the house a half dozen times because I forget I'm wearing them. Highly recommended. I wish I had invested in them sooner.
I work 60+ hours outside every week in the Rockies, covering around 20km a day. These boots have been great. Very waterproof, warm enough while I'm active, and lightweight.
For a mid-boot it’s just too short, the tongue too won’t keep snow out. I wish the Outchill still came in black, that’s a better boot.
Hey, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We often adjust our products based on direct customer feedback. We will make sure to pass this along to our designers for consideration in future products.
True to size, good fit & traction, very comfortable & warm. Comfort would be enhanced if tongue was longer (it’s too short).
