I bought these at the beginning of winter, and I’m so glad I did. The traction is amazing, there was many a time I should have slipped on ice but I didn’t because of the traction. It’s legit waterproof and oh my goodness the insulation is good. Pair it with some merino wool socks and frostbite will fear you. They also don’t feel heavy! I have a really hard time feeling comfy in hiking boots and these are so comfortable! I’m just really stoked about these boots. They are spendy and didn’t have any reviews when I ordered so I was skeptical. But If your looking for a winter hiking boot this is it. Also if it makes a difference I live in Alaska and high quality long lasting gear is essential especially for winter!
I have tried about 6-8 different winter boots including ones from Hoka, Oboz, North Face. The other Hoka boots (and I am a HUGE Hoka fan with an entire collection of Hoka athletic shoes and a pair of much-love Hoka hiking boots) were all insanely small. As in not-even-in-the-ballpark small in length. But these Kaha Frost, while very, very pricey, seem perfect. Haven't tried them out other than in my hallway, but they felt good as soon as I put them on - as a good Hoka should. Hopefully they are warm and will be comfortable when I try them out on a trial urban hike. Also, they are MUCH more attractive in-person than in the photos. The photos make them look super clunky, but they actually look good on. The sole is wide so should be great on trails.
I love these boots. They keep your feet so warm, have great traction and are comfortable for long distance trails. They are a bit bulky, but the bulkiness adds a bit more stability for rough terrain. These are a bit overpriced in my opinion. I don’t regret the purchase not one bit.
The entire boots are in fabric , not like Kaha2 with leather on top , the frost can keep feet warm walking on snow . But I lost one toe nail as I had worn them for whole day hiking switch between snowshoes and spikes , the spike rubber pressed the soft fabric and put all the pressure on my feet back and toes .if you use them for only simply hiking in winter , it’s fine . But if you want to use spikes or snowshoes on top of frost , you need to think about it .
