Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stellar Shoe Bought this shoe a month ago. I wear a 10.5 street shoe and I bought a 9.5 in this. Fits perfectly. If I cinch down on the straps I can get a tight performance fit for thin faces, or if left a little looser I can wear them for hours at a time. I don't find them to be quite as stiff as people are saying. I climb mostly slabby sandstone and smearing has been solid. This shoe stretched very minimally, the fit out of the box is about the fit you'll get. There is maybe a few hours of break in time. I've never had a shoe fit so comfortably right out of the box.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All Purpose Awesomeness! This is an absolutely fantastic general purpose shoe that definitely has a leg up on the competition when it comes to edging. The stealth rubber is a fantastic compound that has stuck to just about every rock it's touched. I'd suggest getting the size that fits best in store as there will be very minimal stretch. Interestingly enough, I also had the toe cap of the shoe blow out on me after a month of climbing, but REI replaced the shoes for me without question. The only review on here that I disagree with is from jwmatney. If the shoe doesn't fit well, that's not the fault of the shoe and doesn't deserve a poor rating. In this case, they just weren't the shoe for you and the way your foot is shaped.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great edging for a price I had been climbing with Sportiva Finales and thought I needed a shoe that edged better and would help on the overhangs. The edging with this shoe was great. But after wearing it more than a dozen times at an hour at least each time, the fit was still really painful. And this was after trying on 3 different sizes. The sole has no bend to it which is why it edges so well but its just uncomfortable. Not sure what to do with this shoe since I gave up on it and bought a pair of Evolv Shaman's which fit great and perform as well or better than these shoes. I had heard so much hype about what great shoes 5.10 makes, but, this was not the case with this shoe.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good shoe, thin toe rubber The shape and construction of this shoe were excellent out of the box. Excellent for edging, comfortable, semi-aggressive shape. Broke these in at the gym for maybe 6-8 sessions and the shoe appeared to be holding up great. When I took them outside for a quick two day trip, the toe rubber almost immediately began to blow out. By the end of the first day, both toes were blown, one so much so that the still in-tact rubber surrounding the blowout came away from the shoe. I will admit my footwork is not exactly professional, and Leavenworth, WA is known to be fairly sharp granite, but I know what I'm doing out there and I don't think any shoe should blowout within the first few hours of being used outside, even if you have awful footwork.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good shoe These shoes are very well designed. Great for edging, as well as the toe having extra rubber for toe hooks. Fairly comfortable, very stiff. Well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around climbing shoe Fantastic shoe! They are comfortable, and perform well. The heel is pretty narrow, and there's quite a bit of volume at the front, so your toes have room to curl slightly without the shoe putting a ton of pressure on the top of your toe joint. They are pretty stiff, and aren't the easiest to smear with. But, the trade off is that they feel super solid on edges, and you feel really confident that your foot won't slip off a small foot hold.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love climbing in them, toes do wear out quicker I've been climbing in these for almost a year now, mostly gym with the occasional outdoors trip. I really like them. They fit the shape of my toes and the arches of my feet, and they feel great on tiny footholds. (Note: they did have a painful break-in period, like most climbing shoes) The one downside is that the toe rubber is weak. The left toe on one of mine is torn. Going to maybe try to fix it with wetsuit repair rubber. Anyway, despite the toe issue, I'd recommend these shoes if they fit your feet and am seriously considering buying another pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Toes Blew-Out Bought these two months ago. I climb almost every day in the gym, on granite or on basalt. I've loved these shoes out of the box and they've taken me up some awesome rocks... BUT, the toes are starting to blow. I try to take good care of my shoes (only wearing them while climbing etc) and I am not sure why this is happening so soon but it might be something to consider.

Are the stiff soles good for jamming in cracks?

Asked by: NoSeNada
These shoes have a moderate stiffness. We recommend a neutral climbing shoe for more stiffness while crack climbing. https://www.rei.com/c/mens-climbing-shoes
