OCUN  Bullit Climbing Shoes

Very soft and pliable shoe, think Drago but less aggressive, though still moderate asymmetry for big toe power. Tension system is good for maintaining stability in awkward positions. Perfect shoe for dynamic, smearing, and comp style problems. Good at overhang, but could be more aggressive for small footholds. Good slab because it grabs/wraps around small/weird holds, but could be more stiff for maintaining tension and stability. Fits really well at street shoe size, toes curled but not painfully so, although that’s only after one session, and I can’t speak on how much it stretches over long term usage. Heel is lower volume than Scarpa and Sportivas for me. It’s a blast to wear. It’s not an overhang or slab specialist, but then again, it’s not trying to be. I wish REI would stock the Ocun shoes in store because I think a lot of people would enjoy them. Again, this is a soft, sock-like shoe, that punches way above its price.

Solid shoe to complement my more aggressive pairs(Drago LV, Phantom Pro). I usually wear this pair for volume climbing and board climbing. Rubber is solid, sticky and on the softer side and I haven't had much complaints if any at all. Have owned it for over a month so far and I dont notice any wear on the rubber despite having already put in 30-40 hours of climbing. Sizing is quite simple, get street size and maybe 0.5-1 size down if you want to aggressively size down. I have a higher mid foot arch and this shoe accommodates that very well. However, I also have a narrow heel that not a lot of shoes get right and this shoe didn't get it right as well. On moderate heel hooks it feels manageable and I don't notice the bagginess but when it comes to make-or-break heels, I can feel the bagginess and I simply cannot put any power on the heel. On the other hand, the toe patch is quite good and it feels solid for toe hooks despite its smaller surface area. Only gripe besides the heel which is more so an issue on my end rather than the shoe, is the adhesive. I wore this shoe for gym climbing for about a month and then took it out for some outdoor climbing in the Texas Triangle area mid-July and after the session, I saw that the fabric near the front of the shoe almost looked stained and discolored to a darker shade, not an issue for me but an interesting phenomenon. What's worse was the edge of the rubber near the top of the forefoot of the shoe was lightly delaminating. Since then, I have climbed for about 3 weeks and the delamination seems more of like a one time thing instead of a small gradual degradation. All in all, great pair, would highly recommend if you have a wide or even an average sized heel and looking for a do-it-all pair or something to take a beating and supplement your aggressive performance shoes. The build quality is generally good and the materials feel high quality besides the small delamination and discoloring.
