Rated 5 out of 5 by from The shoe I've been looking for! I have a terrible time with my feet and have been suffering for years due to my own unwillingness to purchase decent shoes. I finally couldn't take it any more and sprung for these shoes, and they have literally changed my life. I haven't been able to take them hiking yet (dead of winter here), but I use them for everyday activities and walking in our rural and wooded area. They required no break in period whatsoever and comfortably accommodate my semi-wide foot. I forgot what it was like to be out and about for 10+ hours a day with NO FOOT PAIN. These are a keeper. Can't wait to take them hiking when the weather improves!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfortable! These hiking shoes are so comfortable its unbelievable. I've been in the market for a new pair of hiking shoes for a year until now! Most hiking shoes feel heavy, clunky, or are just not comfortable. These were comfortable right out of the box. They don't hit heavy on the heel when walking, which is my biggest issue with other hiking shoes I've tried. In addition to comfort, they feel very sturdy. I would say that they run a half size big, I'm usually an 8.5 but ordered an 8 and they fit perfect with thin or thick socks. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable first time out. I bought this pair of low boots as an additional pair for hiking trips. They were comfortable the first time out. What I liked especially about the fit was the wide toe box as that can be an issue for me. I usually wear an 8 or 81/2 in a street shoe and I ordered this is an 8 because one reviewer mentioned that they ran a half size large. I needed to return the 8 for the 8 1/2,because even though the toe box is wide, I didn't feel the 8 was quite long enough. When you hike you need to give yourself some toe room for the downhills. Glad I went with the 8 1/2 they were perfect. Also, I wore these on a trail in Colorado that turned out to be incredibly snowy, wet and muddy and they are not waterproof. This was my mistake, my feet were soaked. However this shoe had such breathability, that after I wrung out my socks, my feet and socks started to dry and still these shoes were comfortable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from They don't breathe! I've had these shoes and another pair of the Oboz hiking boots for 4 months now. I love the Oboz wide toe, narrow ankle fit. Unfortunately, these are by far the stinkiest, swampiest shoes I've ever owned. I work in an office at a desk job. After a few hours my feet are sopping wet and very stinky. I've tried different socks but they don't seem to help. This has never happened with any of my other shoes or boots. I can't imagine what these would be like on a hiking or backpacking trip since they're wet after a 30 minute walk. :( Hopefully as Oboz gets more feedback they'll find a way to make their shoes breathe better because they really have a nice product otherwise.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great fit but don't get them wet-like a sponge Great fit, nice insole with a good arch support. Fantastic for people with wide feet. No breaking in period. Great traction. However, once wet, they take forever to dry out. The mesh is like a sponge. I intentionally wanted non-waterproof hiking boots because my feet get too hot but these didn't breathe any better than my waterproof pair and when I wore them on a 4 day trip they got wet on day 1, weighed twice as much and never dried out! I nearly had jungle rot by the time I got home. Had to return them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hiking shoes? Feel more like sneakers So, I've worn a pair of the sawtooth Oboz "cross trainers" for 2 years. Those feel like hiking shoes (http://www.rei.com/product/800022/oboz-sawtooth-low-cross-training-shoes-womens). In comparison, for this model, I gambled and bought online because the Sawtooth shoes fit so well, and these are SO much more attractive. They fit well - I haven't gotten them out for a hike yet, but the fit inside the shoe seems consistent - removable insole (fits my orthotics), roomy toebox, true to size. Fit around the heel feels good - not slipping. The bottom of the shoe seems a bit more flexible and springy than the Sawtooth shoes, and certainly has more of a "rolling" feel when you walk than the Sawtooth model. Side by side, I'd say these feel more like sneakers / cross-trainers, and the Sawtooth feel like hiking shoes with a stiffer, slightly flatter bottom. I'm perplexed by the marketing but enamoured of this model. Much cuter than the Sawtooth. I'll update more once I've worn them for a bit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far So good Purchased this shoe based on a friends rave review of her Oboz. So far so good. The color is perfect, my foot fits well thought the heel rubs a little on the back of the shoe. This goes away after walking a little. The tread is great for hiking on a variety of surfaces. Boxy fit at the toe which is great but a bit wide for the shape of my foot in the middle so thick socks are a must for good stability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable hiker ever I bought this because of the wide toe box, which is the best for long hikes without cramping toes, but also love the tread. The sole is flexible enough for uneven surfaces, but grips like mad on wet or dry.

Early morning hikers enjoy a river view in winter

Oboz shoes and boots are good for the heart and sole

Bozeman-based Oboz plants a tree for every pair it sells, runs its Montana office on windpower, and donates shoes to those in need. Oh, and they biomechanically engineer their footwear to be incredibly comfortable, too.
