Best Daily Super Trainer!!!

I’m gonna be honest my very first run with these left me hating them lol but I decided to give them a few more break-in miles and I’m very glad that I did. They have become my daily training super shoe! I use them as my main shoe for daily runs, long runs and some easy runs. I’ve even used them for speed sessions and they are great for all. They are a bit heavier than I like for a speed shoe (I usually use Saucony Pro 4 or Alphafly for speed work/MP pace runs, etc) so I personally wouldn’t use them for race day but I would absolutely have it as a daily “super trainer” in my rotation. If you are a newer runner I think they would be an awesome first carbon plated shoe for marathon and a lot less risky than other carbon plated options. They keep legs feeling fresher and help give u little extra speed but in a subtle way that you forget they’re plated. They’re also very comfy once broken in and offer lots of stability and cushion/support. A lot of my weekly miles are stroller runs pushing my son and they hold up incredibly well! When I first started running I loved having loads of cushion to protect my legs and feet but now that I’ve been at it for a while this feels like the perfect upgrade from the New Balance 1080 V14-15 while still maintaining the comfy feel. They’re also very nice looking and go with many of my running outfits which I love! Overall I would definitely recommend this shoe if you’re looking for something that can do it all!

Love this shoe

I love this shoe, it perfectly compliments my rotation as a plated long run shoe, I have the zoom fly 6s as well, but these feel better underfoot. I have had 6 pairs of new balances and every pair has been amazing.

Hard-to-Find Wide Carbon Plate

I really love this shoe! It’s my 4th attempt at a carbon-plated shoe. I have wide feet and originally found another brand that I liked, but the next year that model was too narrow. I then tried 2 other brands’ carbon-plated offerings with great pain at about mile 6. The only drawback I noticed about this shoe (and have now put about 60 miles on them) was that I didn’t think they gave me the fatigue-fighting energy return to the extent that I had experienced it with other carbons, so I ordered (and have just received) the FuelCell SuperComp Elite. But I will not stop running in this shoe. I love it! Just took it on my long run this morning.

Caused outer midfoot pain; had to stop wearing

These shoes gave me pretty bad foot pain in the outer midfoot area. I’m not sure what exactly caused the pain - it felt like they were too narrow, but they fit fine. Regardless, I had to stop running in these shoes, which I think is a first for me after 10 years of running. Pain went away when I switched back to my other shoes (New Balance and Asics). I liked the FuelCell Rebel V3 and V4 as well as the plated SuperComp Elite - none of those gave me any trouble at all. I rarely have foot pain or shoe issues so I was pretty surprised by the pain I had with these shoes. Maybe my pair was somehow defective but I can’t recommend these.

Great shoes

I’ve been running in the New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Trainer for a while now, and they’ve honestly exceeded expectations. The recoil and energy return are incredible — every stride feels springy and responsive without being too aggressive. Running performance is amazing, especially on longer runs where the cushioning really shines while still keeping a fast, smooth feel. The shoe feels lightweight for the amount of support and comfort it provides. What impressed me most is the stability. Even with the high stack and soft foam, the platform feels very secure and balanced, giving confidence during tempo runs and recovery miles alike. Overall, this is one of the best trainer shoes I’ve used for combining comfort, speed, and stability in one package.

Premium trainers but not for everyone

I usually wear size 9D for NB and these fit perfectly out of box in size 9s. The toe box is roomy and the gusseted tongue is a nice touch. The carbon plate is not in-your-face noticeable but the shoes do have a stiffer sensation over the Fresh Foam models (looking at you 880s and 1080s). I bought these thinking they would be both great for easy distance runs and tempo training but was a bit disappointed in the underfoot feel. While incredibly fun to run for tempo, at slower pace the shoes lose their bite and feel a bit dead. The outsole is also very thin so caution if running on rougher terrain.

Great shoes but not for beginners/short/slow runs.

Great for daily runs at medium to high speeds. They are definitely not comfortable for walking or short, slower-paced runs. If you are getting back into running or are a beginner runner, this may not be the best option for you. I am returning to training and running after 5 years. My first 3 runs were 3 miles each and it was quite uncomfortable and painful in the arch of my foot due to the carbon plate. I just bought the Fresh Foam 1080v14. I will go back to using these shoes once I am ready. Although these did not work for me for now, I have definitely become a loyal NB customer.

Doesn’t last

Poor durability They didn’t even get to 200km before starting to fail. At 250km there was less than .5mm of foam under forefoot. And my shinsplints came back. “Wear and tear” i’m told from new balance
