I'm a huge fan of Mystery Ranch but for me, this really missed the mark. A S/M fit me well as a 5ft4in 175lbd women with a chest. The pockets could sit in the right place because the sides are highly adjustable. That's where the benefits stopped. I'm considered petite and the straps rubbed the sides of my neck. I'd need a 1/4 zip or a hoodie every time I'd want to wear this pack to not end up with serious chaffing. The front pockets are hilariously useless. A phone falls out, most running water bottles are too tall, and the cinch to close the pockets is too long. Lastly, the fox color, which I thought was an orange is military tan and green. I don't know how mu screen color can be so different. The pack itself is of normal MR build but the design needs to be reworked.
This is the perfect lightweight day pack. I love the running vest system and everything thing on it feels quality while also keeping on the lighter side. It has great breathability, I usually get sweaty with my Big Agnes Day Pack but not Mystery Ranch. I absolutely love the shoulder strap pockets, they are so handy for bear spray, my phone, or sunglasses. All that’s missing is an outside side pocket! I always like to see a pocket that fits a Nalgene. The water bladder keeper could also be designed a little better, maybe a small plastic hook would be a better design. I definitely recommend but would love to see side pockets in the future!
I use this pack for mountain biking, trail running, & shorter day hikes. The L/XL fits me well (5' 11" & 185 lbs). The shoulder strap pockets work well for bear spray and my cell phone. The top pocket is large enough for an UL wind shell, Garmin Mini, & car keys (with room left over). This pack carries well when running (minimal bouncing). I purchased this pack to replace a very well-used BD Distance 15. This pack seems to have a little more room than the BD (which is nice).
Bought this for my wife as a daily pack and she loves it! It is small and lightweight but large enough in the main compartment! The features are excellent on this smaller pack and has the dependability that mystery ranch is known for.
Great for the day to day or a weekend getaway. This pack is the ideal carry on for flights. Just a comfortable well made backpack
