Cotopaxi  Elqui 24 L Daypack

I love my Elqui 24 in Kale. The main compartment is spacious and simple, which makes it easy to pack for daily use. The front stretchy pocket is one of my favorite features, it’s perfect for separating wet items or sandy sandals so the rest of the bag stays clean. The shoulder straps are incredibly comfortable and fit a female silhouette very well, even when fully loaded. The internal sleeve is designed for a hydration bladder, but it also fits my 13” Apple MacBook Pro (with a sleeve) perfectly. The only downside is that the side pockets are a bit tight for larger bottles like a 32oz Nalgene or Hydro Flask. The top handle is also smaller than expected, but it hasn’t been an issue for me. Some reviewers mention the lack of internal compartments, but I prefer using my own pouches, so this design works well for me. Overall, it’s a comfortable, practical, and thoughtfully designed backpack that works beautifully for everyday life.

I had a hard time finding info on this pack when I was considering buying it, so hoping to add something helpful! I've had this backpack for about a month and have used it on a handful of hikes, bikes, for chill day trips, and for work. This pack is super lightweight, and I find it extremely comfortable to wear. I am a short and curvy woman, and I find the wide and thin straps very comfy, almost leaning toward a running vest feel. Even when loaded with 2-3 liters of water, the straps don't dig in, and they are flexible enough to work around my chest. The pack isn't super structured or robust-feeling, but I prefer the really light, compressible material, which does still feel high quality to me. I like the simplicity of the configuration: large open main compartment, one small stash pocket on the top (which can be a bit tight, but perfect for keys and wallet) plus the mesh pocket on the front. I prefer to use my own pouches over having a bunch of built-in pockets and organization, so this minimal setup works perfectly for me. The pack does also have a couple of very small mesh pockets on the lower part of the straps, which could fit something like a granola bar. I found whatever I put in there would rub against my arms, so it's not a feature I really use. For my phone, I attach my Matador velcro "pocket" to one shoulder strap. It does have a j-shaped zipper on the main compartment, with three zipper pulls. I haven't quite figured out yet if this will be useful for me, but it did take a little getting-used-to. It is nice that the zipper comes down really far on one side, so you can dig into the dark depths of the pack. I think my only real complaint is that the side water bottle pockets are really tight. My trusty 32 oz hydroflask bottle just barely squeezes into them, but it's so difficult to get the bottle back in that I've been throwing the bottle inside the pack instead. I've been using a water bladder and hose more and more for hiking, and this pack does work really beautifully for that--it has a stretchy pocket for the bladder, a small clip to hang the bladder from, a pass-through for the hose, and a place on the shoulder strap to attach a hose magnet. Alternatively, the small side pockets have been really handy to throw non-valuable small items, and the side compression cords can be used to tighten those pockets even more. Overall, this pack looks really good, feels really good, and despite a couple of quirks, is the lightweight day hiking pack I've been looking for. Along with my holy grail Cotopaxi Trozo 8L shoulder bag, these two cover basically all my needs. In addition to work and hiking, I can see myself using this bag for minimalist travel. It's just a simple, versatile pack that can do whatever I need it to. Oh, and in case anyone else was feeling unsure, it IS dark navy blue and not black!

I'm a bit disappointed with this pack, though I did buy it online so maybe that was on me. As a school/commute bag, it would work phenomenally. As a day pack... Eh. I like the single compartment a lot and that's one of the reasons I got this pack. The color is also stinking cute. However, the side pockets are tight in all the wrong places and the water bladder hole comes out in the weirdest place (center of the back). The hole is also tiny and such a pain to thread the tubing through. Cute, but not for my needs.

This light weight backpack is great for work, hiking and overnight trips. The colors are great and I prefer it to a different brand I was using. It fits perfectly underneath planes for travel and easy to hand wash ! Thanks cotapaxi for making products that are meant to be used !!

I’ve used it for several hikes and it has been perfect. Holds everything I need (and more)… and is super comfortable. It’s like it’s not even there. Size is perfect, outside mesh pocket is super useful and I can put a Nalgene in each of the outside pockets. That, along with my water bladder, allows me to easily do a full day out. Love it! Highly recommend.

I am a true fan of previous years of Cotopaxi. I love the color combinations, the pockets and organization, etc. this bag has none of those things. There are no cute color combos and absolutely no pockets for organization. It’s one big hole. I can live with a unified color- but the lack or organization is really disappointing considering the history with how amazing the bags have been. Of course after I bought this, opened it and threw the tags away- they come out with a bag that does have pockets. I have been disappointed in the website recently too that you can’t see into each bag and you can’t see all of the color combinations. May have to move onto a new company I can see what I am getting.

I like this backpack a lot but I wasn’t blown away. It’s pretty average and a few of the features are more aesthetic than anything. The loader straps are pretty useless and the waist belt is thin and unpadded so I wouldn’t rely on that. The grain color has a slight green undertone but otherwise is pretty. I got this pack to have something for easy 1-2 hour hikes with my toddler and then bopping around town without looking like I just got off the PCT and it does that well. If I was going for anything longer or designated day hikes I would opt for something more like the Gregory Juno.

I purchased this to replace a Ful daypack I’ve had for years. I love it. It’s like I went from a Oldsmobile to a Tesla. The build is top notch and I look forward to many miles of daypack use. Great job, Cotopaxi !!

This bag is lightweight and can fit a lot despite the relatively small form factor. I love the water bottle pockets on the sides, the stretchy front mesh pocket, and the strap pockets. I do wish there were some more internal pockets/compartments for more organization. If you’re deciding between the 24L and the 18L, I would go for the 24L. It does not feel big at all, and has a better shape in my option (the 18L feels like a turtle shell).

I purchased the Elqui 18L and 24L to compare and ended up keeping the 24L. I found the 24L to be more functional being able to hold multiple layers while still being supportive enough. I play tennis and this backpack is large enough to hold a racket, shoes, and a jacket. Worth noting though, this 24L feels a little smaller than other 24L backpacks I've tried on, potentially because the capacity also takes into account of front pocket. I wish the pockets on the straps were slightly bigger. They're large enough to hold my iPhone 15 Pro but I do feel that I need to be rough putting in and taking it out. I got both the grain and foam/silver leaf color. The grain has a military green undertone while the foam/silver leaf is accurate to the website pictures. While this is not the most technical bag, I do find the aesthetics make me excited to wear it and the quality will stand up for many hikes to come.
