Average shorts
Disclaimer that I ordered a size too small. It was too tight and I couldn’t wear for a long time or even exercise in it. I thought the sizing on the website was a bit confusing. But I can comment on the quality and material, which I thought was super well made and super comfortable. I liked that it was high wasted and longer leg on the short. I also like two deep pockets. I gave 3 stars because at $65 it didn’t seem worth it, I’m not sure I see how it’s different from other brands. The pads are confusing and I’ll be honest I usually don’t like tight shorts or pants because of my V camel toe. I really thought it was going to be different and more supportive for the v, but it didn’t seem like it. The packaging and website could be nicer and more of an experience.
These shorts make all the difference
These shorts are awesome. The first time I put them on, I immediately noticed the increased breathability & ventilation that I don't get with other compression shorts. I wore these shorts in combination with the removable insert from Oya, & they were so comfortable, I didn't want to take them off! I really like that they don't ride up between my thighs, which usually happens if I wear compression shorts that aren't knee-length (I have larger thighs than waist). These shorts stayed put & didn't get scrunched up the whole time I wore them. The fabric is soft and stretchy while still providing good support. I can also verify they pass the squat test & performed great through sweaty hours of clearing brush and debris from trails. If you're hesitant to wear compression shorts b/c you don't like the irritation/itchiness/tightness, give these a try.
Barely There Bike Shorts
I love pants with pockets! These exercise pants pants are the triple threat - comfortable, made with buttery soft material, and flattering to the behind. 😏 I was extra happy to see it also had pockets! Comes in handy when you want to store a few necessities while on the go or under a skirt. The strategically placed vents did allow for good airflow to minimize sweat during a hard workout or even just on a hot day. While wearing them, I almost forgot I was wearing any pants! 😮 Although I do recommend sizing up as it runs a little small.
Great Compression Shorts!
Overall I really like these shorts! They give great compression and don't ride up when running. My only complaint is that they run a little small. Based on the sizing chart, I should wear a size medium, but these feel a little too tight and press into my thighs more than I'd like at the hem (I do have curvy thighs). If you're in between sizes, you might consider sizing up. I haven't gotten them out on a super long run yet, but I imagine the ventilation in the crotch area will be nice, especially when it's hot out! I've run in them a few times, but honestly couldn't tell a huge difference like I was expecting. I look forward to wearing them on my long run soon! There are two deep pockets on the side of each thigh which are nice and can easily fit your phone. One thing I would add is maybe a small pocket somewhere on the waist area where you can put small items like your car key or chap stick, but that's just my personal preference (I'm paranoid that I'll accidentally pull out my car key and drop it when taking my phone or other items out!) Despite them feeling a little tight, I'm strongly considering wearing these shorts in my 50 mile race next month so I do recommend them! They have better compression than any of my other shorts that are a similar style. There is also a little pocket in the crotch where you can put these moisture absorbing pads, but there's no impact on the shorts if you choose not to use them. I haven't found them to be particularly helpful, but if you sweat a lot in that area, I could definitely see them being nice.
Not comfortable for long periods of exercise
I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I am 5’ 5” and 126lbs and the size large fits a little loose. I used these shorts for walking. I am a runner and would have ran in them but the mesh crotch would make me chafe even from walking. They are very high waisted and not comfortable to me for long periods of exercise. The pockets hold an iPhone 13 mini and the non-mesh material that makes up the remainder of the shorts has a soft feel.
Comfy after the first wear
I took these shorts on two walks around my normal walking/running route. I live in Las Vegas, and one of the days it was HOT but dry, so I didn't sweat a whole lot, while the other day it was hot and humid. I sweated like a workhorse. I wear a size 12/14, and I hold most of my weight in my legs (I'm definitely pear shaped), so I got an XL. I will say that if you have skinny legs, don't worry about the shorts being too loose; it won't happen. I popped a couple seams when I put them on, and the first wear honestly felt a little like a sausage wrapper. I think they designed the shorts that way, so they'd fit small and big legs well. The shorts do NO ride up, and after the first wear, they sit comfortably on my legs. I'd honestly like a couple extra inches of length better, but it's not enough to make me not wear them. Did I mention it was hot? I could definitely feel the heat on my outer legs, but the inner leg panel REALLY allowed my legs to breathe where they needed it most. I think these would be fantastic as a capri, even a legging, because it's easy to catch a cooling breeze on the inner thigh. AND THE POCKETS. Thank you to WHOEVER figured out that we ladies like pockets that hold actual STUFF when we work out. These will hold the largest phone if you want, securely. I personally carried my tiny water bottles in them, with the added benefit that they cooled down my legs. :-) The only part I'm not a huge fan of is the waistband. It's COMFORTABLE for sure, but it's a little high for my tastes (full disclosure, I don't like stuff that touches my belly button), and until you get sweaty enough for it to stick to your skin, it has the tendency to fold over. It's not uncomfortable, it's just... not perfect. I actually like that it's a cushy waistband and it definitely doesn't constrict. I did not try these shorts in the gym, but I think they'd be a great add. The legs don't ride up, and after the first wear they don't constrict, but I feel supported the whole time.
Great shorts for running and exercise
I have used these shorts for running and at-home workouts. I have been really impressed so far. They are well made and well designed. Check the sizing on Oya's site before ordering. The stitching is clean with no loose threads. The fabric has a nice weight to it - solid without being suffocating. The wide waistband does not roll down. It sits nicely and comfortably across my lower abdomen. There are discrete pockets on each side of the legs, which is nice since you can choose what side you prefer to use. The pockets are so seamless that I didn't even realize they were there until my 2nd or 3rd time wearing the shorts. The pockets are deep and held a mid-sized smart phone snugly to my leg. The phone stays in place during my runs to the point I forget I even have it there. The inner thigh and crotch have a mesh fabric that helps with keeping things cool. I checked the sizing on Oya's site before ordering. I usually get a small but for these I ended up a medium and it fits well.
A great pair of shorts!
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I don't wear shorts often, but these may change my mind! They fit very well and I love the side pockets - women's clothes need more pockets! They are incredibly easy to move around and work out in, and also help slenderize my problem areas, making them look pretty great as well! The legs stay put and they don't ride up anywhere. These will be my go-to shorts for hikes and working out at the gym for a long time to come.
Measurements in the size guide are accurate!
Great compression but won’t stretch enough if you’re at the top of the size range.
Not for gals with thighs
I couldn’t get these over my runner thighs to even decide if I liked them. Smalls fit me 90% of the time. I’m 135 lbs.
