Temperature ratings are intended as a guideline to help you compare products, rather than a guarantee of warmth, since many different factors contribute to your comfort while you sleep. Backpacking bags are typically rated for temperature according to an independent testing protocol—currently International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 23537, though some older items followed European Norm (EN) 13537. Testing is based on a person wearing one base layer and a pair of socks, sleeping on an insulated surface with a minimum R-value of 5.38.

Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

Non restrictive bag. Stays in place on pad!

Very comfortable bag for a person that changes sleeping positions a lot at night. Good for side sleepers also. Unlike other bags I've uses, this one stays on the sleeping pad all night due to it's design.

Cold spot

I was looking forward to using this bag in Shenandoah last week for our annual trip with 10th graders as it was going to be much warmer than usual. I use a bivvy sack on a cot and liked the idea of the pad sleeve and not having to deal with zippers. The pad sleeve, hood, and foot vent worked great. The quilt worked well when I slept on my left side, but it was more challenging to keep it on when I rolled to my right side. The quilt didn’t bother me as much as my upper legs, though. No matter how I situated the quilt, my hip to knee area was cold, even if I slept on my stomach, which usually keeps me warm. I finally pulled my puffer jacket down from above my head and draped it over my hips and upper legs. I had to adjust it each time I rolled over. We had a low of 50F and I was wearing a long sleeve thin waffle top and light flannel pj bottoms with no socks. My upper body and feet were perfectly comfortable. The second night we had a low of 59F, and I wore thicker sweatpants and socks just to be sure I could get better sleep, and I did. The zipper-less design was nice inside the bivvy, and I think it will work well for sleeping in a hammock as well, I’ll just know to dress more warmly than I’d anticipate.
