Temperature ratings are intended as a guideline to help you compare products, rather than a guarantee of warmth, since many different factors contribute to your comfort while you sleep. Backpacking bags are typically rated for temperature according to an independent testing protocol—currently International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 23537, though some older items followed European Norm (EN) 13537. Testing is based on a person wearing one base layer and a pair of socks, sleeping on an insulated surface with a minimum R-value of 5.38.
Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

Good comfort, bad quality material

It's comfortable, a lovely shape, and keeps me pretty warm. I love the features so much and in general love this brand, so I was really disappointed to see that after a few light uses, down is shedding from the seams in multiple places. I had to put tape in probably 6 places already and I am always seeing more spots where feathers are slowly seeping out. It's both from seams and from little parts of the fabric. I always wake up with down on my pajamas after sleeping in this bag. For a company with a reputation for high quality equipment (and a price point to match), this was really disappointing for me.

The Nemo Disco Sleeping Bag impresses right out of the box with its high-quality materials and thoughtful design. Nemo’s commitment to quality and sustainability is evident, which is always a plus. While I haven't had the chance to use it yet, I'm excited to take it out on my next trip. One standout feature is the Thermo Gills, which should be perfect for temperature regulation, especially for those who run hot while sleeping or are looking to make the bag a little cooller in warmer temps. The pillow flap is another great touch, adding extra comfort. The length is just right, making it a well-designed bag overall. My first backpacking sleeping bag ever was a Nemo riff that I got on sale and I absolutely loved it. I used it to do the JMT, in the Grand Canyon, and for my work as a backpacking guide. Unfortunately, a nearby child arsonist burnt all my my stuff to the ground so rip sleeping bag lol. I ended up getting a different sleeping bag (feathered friends) which is objectively much more expensive but even though it’s much lighter than the Nemo I found myself really missing my old bag. So I rebought it in the disco. I do think this is definitely one of the most comfortable bags I’ve ever used, however I don’t think the warmth rating is super accurate. It’s also on the heavier side but it’s so durable and comfortable I don’t mind carrying the weight tbh. Would definitely recommend!

This sleeping bag is first and foremost warm and comfortable. My precious mummy style bags didn’t offer the movement that I need to switch sides when sleeping. This one is roomy and flexible enough for me to get as comfortable as I wish. Love this!
