Features

  • Designed to be comfortable when you're falling asleep, when you're asleep, and when you're wide awake and hanging out in your tent
  • Built to backpack, the materials and design are dialed in to make the bag lightweight, packable and high-performing in variable backcountry conditions
  • Semirectangular shape gives you considerably more internal space than a mummy bag—you'll feel unrestricted and free to sleep in whatever position you want all night long
  • Shell and liner are made of GRS-certified, 100% recycled, soft-to-the-touch nylon
  • PFAS-free durable water repellent (DWR) coating and the hydrophobic down keep you warm and comfy even in wet weather
  • Zoned insulation puts 650-fill-power down in key warmth-retention areas (on top, around your core and shoulders) and reduces it where it's less efficient (on the bottom)
  • RDS-certified down
  • Zipping up the WarmZipâ„¢ center zipper transforms the shape from a semirectangular bag to a thermally efficient mummy bag
  • WarmZip pulls the down around your body and reduces the amount of space your body needs to heat, adding up to 10°F (6°C) to the bag's temperature rating
  • Arm holes give you easy access to the WarmZip without having to use the side zipper and allow you to ventilate or comfortably sleep with just your arms out
  • They also allow you to access your belongings, read a book, play cards or high-five your friends without leaving the cozy warmth of your sleeping bag
  • 2-way side zipper also allows for additional ventilation around your torso or down by your feet
  • Puffy draft collar, a draft tube along the entry zipper line and a cinchable hood round out the Boost's bliss-inducing comfort
  • Durable, antisnag YKK zipper pulls eliminate annoying snags and damaging tears
  • Comes with a compression sack and a storage sack

Imported.

Temperature ratings are intended as a guideline to help you compare products, rather than a guarantee of warmth, since many different factors contribute to your comfort while you sleep. Backpacking bags are typically rated for temperature according to an independent testing protocol—currently International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 23537, though some older items followed European Norm (EN) 13537. Testing is based on a person wearing one base layer and a pair of socks, sleeping on an insulated surface with a minimum R-value of 5.38.

Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

Gets the job done

Can’t say anything bad about the sleeping bag. I went with this bag so I can use it year round. So far I’ve used it in 20-30 degree F weather and had to wear clothing to keep warm (as I expected). Its a nice feature that there are arm vents but I don’t really use them bc I always seem to struggle finding the zippers when Im in the sleeping bag. Also, I found the main zipper seems durable but it gets caught on itself frequently which makes zipping the bag a finicky process. Overall a good bag that shares common issues with other bags of the same price

I love this thing!

I love this sleeping bag. As a tall/wide person, I had sought out quilts for more space, but the midline zipper creates enough room for me to comfortably sleep in the wide version of the bag. While it's not as light as a quit, I'm MUCH warmer, and don't need to bring a sleeping bag liner for extra warmth which saves on some ounces. One thing I regret is not opting for the long version. I'm 6ft and while the regular should fit me, the hood is very snug and not in a good way. If I were less girthy, I'd probably have some more headroom, but I think it'd still be better had I sized up.

My new favorite sleeping bag

Warm, comfortable, love the leg space and being able to put my arms out of the slots to read. Genius. Also, love that it zips up for colder nights, nice and light for backpacking too!

understanding what the product is and who it's for

As a side-sleeping backpacker looking for sleep system options that maximize comfort without weighing me down, this was *almost* a great sleeping bag for me. I love the idea of it... focus on comfort, with tons of accessible sizing options. The feel of the material is luxurious in a way that is difficult to describe. It almost has a liquid-like feel to it without the tissue-like crinkliness that a lot of sleeping bags have. The zipper action was smooth. As a side sleeper, I liked the idea of the bag being a comfort-focused, semi-rectangular bag that can cinch in to create a true mummy shape and additional warmth if necessary. The high-viz colors are also dope, especially compared to everything else on the market. The main drawback of this bag is the fill power. The modest 650 fill power means that, relative to its warmth and loft, the bag is heavy and not particularly compressible. An equivalently warm bag or quilt with 750 or 800+ fill power is going to weigh less and pack down smaller. As much as I wanted to keep this bag when I got it, I found it was too heavy and bulky and realized I would never reach for it to stuff into my pack when I have something like my Sea to Summit Ascent available - a bag that is also a comfort-focused, relaxed mummy bag, but in a higher fill power that is much more backpacker-friendly. Of course, the Ascent was also about $100-150 more expensive than the Boost. Which brings me to the real crux of my review: I still think this is a great bag, IF you are in the target market for this product. Because lower fill power = lower cost, and combined with the focus on comfort and wide range of sizing options, this bag is primarily marketed at folks who are newer at camping and looking for a single, affordable, comfort-oriented sleeping bag that can cover all their needs in a variety of conditions. If you're looking for a one and done bag and you are a car camper who occasionally dabbles in backpacking, or otherwise in a position to carry a bit of extra weight and bulk in your kit, this is a great option for you. If you are primarily a backpacker, and especially a lightweight or ultralight backpacker, this is probably not going to be the ideal bag for you.

Great sleeping bag. It's lightweight, but plenty warm. The extra zippers make it easy to regulate temperature. Five stars!
