Big Agnes  Fly Creek UL Zip Quilt

This item is ideal. I am a long term traveler to less developed countries and need a quilt at times, sitting around a campfire or covering up in an overnight bus. As for the sleeping bag function I need more than a liner but less than a bulky camping sleeping bag to survive sketchy hostels and unexpected colder nights where the provided blanket is not enough. I tried the bag at home before my departure and it performs well, except for the zipper which sometimes gets caught in the material. I was considering giving four stars because of the high price, but my REI membership entitled me to a break. Also the company does not discriminate against tall people as they charge the same for the long version.

I took this quilt on a 7-day backpacking trip along the Pacific Crest Trail in June 2025, and it exceeded my expectations. During the day, the temperatures were scorching, but the nights—especially around campsite—got surprisingly chilly, dropping into the upper 30s and low 40s. At first, I wasn’t sure I’d need it, especially paired with my warm sleepwear setup. But it turned out to be a game-changer. I combined it with a warm fleece layer, and it kept me perfectly comfortable through the night without overheating. The quilt’s versatility and packability really stood out. Lightweight, easy to deploy, and warm when it counts. Highly recommended for shoulder season hikes or any trek with large temperature swings.

First quilt I've ever used, and it was phenomenal. paired with a UL 2 bikepacking tent, and a divide sleeping pad, I was able to pack my whole shelter and sleep system into a single 12 liter kreiga bag. That fit really made the ride, and when it came time to sleep, it was warm and comfortable. I was a big fan in the foot box for keeping it on me. I can't really think of anything negative to say about it, for how warm and soft it was for packing down so small (you can get it roughly the size of a softball with a compression sack, and that was with my camping pillow stuck in there too) it's absolutely worth the price. If you need to pack super small, this is going to work beautifully for you.

i believe the temp rating on this is 50 degrees and i slept in the whites in a hammock with this at 40 degree temps, and only had a couple warm layers on and kept me warm just fine, also had no underquilt, so to me it’s a 10/10 product, packs up very small and is so light

I'm a hot sleeper, but always feel like I need covers, so I was looking for something that take camping here in NC where it's always humid and the temperature frequently ranges anywhere from hot to super hot, even at night. While I haven't taken this out camping yet (first trip is in a couple weeks), I gave it a test run on my couch and had a great sleep! It's surprisingly comfortable and luxurious feeling, something I'd actually choose to snuggle up in rather than just tolerate. I also love how the bottom of this is made--use it as a bag, or stick your feet out if you like!

I took this with me for 5 weeks as I backpacked across northern Spain on the Camino Frances and stayed in albergues and hostels. It was absolutely perfect in every way and I'm so bought it. Worth the money. Lightweight, easily packable each morning, warm and cozy, attractive, and unique enough looking (deep purple) to not get mistaken for anyone else's. Especially loved the foot pocket. Highly recommend!

Tested my the new UL quilt on a recent backpacking trip, and one night of car camping post trip. What stands out: Really high quality materials and build, super lightweight and packable, thoughtful design, does just what you'd expect for what it was designed for. I'm typically a really warm sleeper, and a 30 degree mummy bag is more than I need for a summer raft trip, or most backpacking trips in the mountains of Idaho. Figured I'd try this to lighten my pack weight. It got down to the upper thirties backpacking and camping on my recent trip, and I was cold. Had to throw on my puffy and a pair of pants half way through the night. I definitely stretched the comfort limit for what this is designed for. If you keep it in the 50-60 degrees at night like its designed for, this would be perfect for any backcountry adventure.

I love the idea of this quilt. I'm a hot sleeper and I hate mummy bags and always zip them fully open, so I thought this would be a perfect solution. The design is great! The one flaw is pretty major though - there is hardly any down in the baffles, so even fully zipped the quilt has about as much warmth as a sheet. Why not increase the loft/down content to make the quilt more versatile for both warm and chilly nights?

This sleeping bag is extremely lightweight for its temperature rating, making it perfect for summer months and some shoulder seasons. It packs down to about the size of a Nalgene bottle, keeping me warm even in temperatures down to the 30s. It's my go-to bag for seven months a year here in Idaho. With its compact size, you'll have more room for beer in your pack or fast packing UL missions, either way, it's an upgrade.
