Buy it!
This hammock breaks down and folds up so easily. I move it around all the time but never use the bag it came in. It's fairly stain resistant and the canvas material is so thick (which I LOVE). It has no rust, no rips tears, and no holes and that's incredible because I've really put this hammock to the test and I've had it outside for YEARS. My only complaint is, when it rains it hold a decent amount of water. To drain it the hammock when it's holding water after a big storm, I just simply flip the hammock over (so it's inside out) and wait a few days before using it again. .. I also wish it packed into itself, to eliminate the need for the over the shoulder bag. A major highlight is the 650 pound weight capacity which allows for multiple people to lounge at the same time which is awesome! I truly recommend this hammock to everyone.
The Porch Swing Hammock for Camping
This is a well-built hammock, easy to set up. Everything you need is included: straps & carabiners. The adjustment straps were a really clever idea on REI's part. I trust this hammock will outlive me. The material is quite strong and I feel safe moving around in it, unlike the thin backpack hammocks. I enjoy this for a relax time in the woods when I only need to walk a short distance in or in the backyard to hang out. It's like a hybrid hammock-porch swing and I think it should be advertised as that because the design leans towards that direction! I plan to use it in the spring/summer for tent/car camping with the family, I think it's perfect for that too. This could fit 2-3 people with a 600lb weight limit. It comes with it's own carrying case and you can throw it over your back.
Great Camping Hammock
The Outward Camp hammock was very easy to set up, two of us set it up but could easily do it with one person. Heavy-duty fabric so no concerns with wearing shoes/boots while laying in hammock. Feels moisture resistant but didn't have opportunity to try it in the rain. The height above ground is based on how high you place the straps on trees/posts so there is variability. Size is quite large, easily accommodates an adult laying down, it may accommodate two adults laying down depending on size. For sitting, room for three adults. The hammock weighs 6.5 lbs including bag it comes in, a little too much weight for backpacking in my opinion but perfect for camping. Stows away back into the bag with ease.
it's ok. Very different than a normal hammock.
Not the easiest to set up, it's heavier than a standard camping hammock and can get confusingly twisted where the fabric attaches to the pole. It's awkward to sit in and almost impossible to lie in comfortably. I found it most comfortable and stable to sit with legs crossed, in the hammock. If you try to sit like you would on a couch, legs down, it pitches you forward, and you kind of have to brace yourself from falling out. While it does say that this is meant to be sat in like a couch, if you try to be radical and lay in this horizontally (like sometimes done on a couch or…a hammock) you will find it quite frustrating and uncomfortable. The balance point to get yourself in a lying position is razor thin, so you’ll either be stiff and uncomfortable on the hammock or stiff and uncomfortable on the ground. The big surprise, and only reason I’ll likely be keeping this, is that my kids had so much fun in exactly the ways the warning label says not to use it, which is basically using it as a portable jungle gym and self flipping device.
Fun And Flexible Seating
Pros: If you are looking for a great way to add comfortable seating to the camp site (or the back yard) then this item is for you. The Outward Hammock is a fun piece of equipment that is more like a couch than a hammock (heads up that it is not meant for laying in). This "couch hammock" is also easy to set up and take down. There are pockets in the sides for the convenience of holding small items too. The stuff sack has ample room and built in instructions for use. The amount of people it can hold relative to the pack size is surprising. Cons: There are no drain holes in case it is left out in the rain. The strap has a tendency to twist, which is then hard to fix when it is under pressure (of just the hammock hanging on its own). It is too big to work with a hammock stand.
Not a Hammock
I thought I was ordering a hammock. It says hammock in the description. What I got was a hammock like chair. It's wide enouight for 2 or 3 people to sit. It's well made. But it is not a hammock. It's a chair. Lay in it, and you will roll to the edge. If not careful, you will roll out. Do you want a hammock chair? Then, you will like this. If you are looking for something to relax in, maybe take a nap in, this is not it. I'm disappointed.
Tree couch, with pockets!
This is definitely my new favorite, its like a couch! Set it up on the snowshoe trip so we could eat without being in the snow. Comfortable with three people sitting in it like a couch
Sturdy and Simple
The hammock looks good, fabric is sturdy and okay to clean up. Setup while camping, at a park and even at home was simple. Directions on the bag is a nice touch. Maybe it was just me, but packing it away the first few times felt harder to get back in. Product weight is decent. If a hammock isn’t comfortable enough to lull me to sleep, then it’s just meh but this one was just right! Overall, seems like it will last a while, it’s comfortable, and simple enough for anyone to use.
Best piece of patio furniture!
This is a reboot of the Evrgrn Downtime Hammock which was the absolute favorite piece of furniture on my patio by everyone in my household and visitors. While the sun will fade it if left out for months in the AZ sun, I got years of good use out of the original. When I saw this was reintroduced, I purchased another immediately. Keep this in stock please, it's fantastic!
Sometimes “old-fashioned” is the BEST fashion
PERFECT for what I needed for a hammock! Just finished building a small home overlooking mountains and a lake; almost threw away an old hammock stand i’ve had for YEARS, but this place has “hammock” written all over it, so i thought to give it one last try. Backpacking, lightweight hammocks just wouldnt work. Found this gem on the last page of the clearance tab—a beautiful diamond in the rough that can also withstand the 30-mph winds i get. LUV it! Thanks, REI!
