A hammock is a must have for me on my backpacking trips and I was looking for an ultralight version to help me save some weight. Tried this one out recently and it was PERFECT! Light and packs down small. Easy to set up and super comfortable. Plus I love the color! Highly recommend.
This is going everywhere with me now! down to the river? Hammok time. Up the mountain? Hammok time. MTB with someone who has more energy than me? Hammok time.
Easily one of the most lightweight hammocks out there. Now, of course to save weight the dimensions are reduced. I am 5'10" and I would say that I am probably near the max height for this hammock but I was still able to achieve a comfortable nights sleep. My normal go to hammock is an ENO single nest which is of course more comfortable but at only 5 oz this is my new go to for ultralight backpacking. I have had other ultralight hammocks that have ripped on me but after a 40 mile 4 night trek in the Smokies this hammock seemed no worse for wear.
I was really excited to try the Roo Single Ultralight because of how small it packed down while still being able to supposedly support 300lb. However, on my very first use it split right in half, unceremoniously dumping me on the ground. I weigh about 190 so nowhere near the load limit. Based on some other reviews it seems this is a common enough problem. I returned it the next day and got the regular Roo Single instead and it’s working great!
Took it out of the box, hung it from two trees in the back yard, heard a rip, and was suddenly laying flat on the ground. Liked the size, didn't like the ripping in half immediately upon first use.
on my first trip I loved this hammock. It's unbelievably lite and compact. since it's a 1p not a lot of fabric to get flat, but I knew that when I bought it, so fair trade off. I was in it probably a total of 2 hours over the days, great. on my second trip with it, different story. I set it up and laid in it, and heard a stained stretching sound (I wish 189 pounds so well within the weight limit). I was slightly alarmed, so I stretched around to look at where the nose was coming from and bam! I'm laying on the ground. the whole lend of the hammock ripped leaving only a small piece holding it together. luckily there was reasonable soft earth under me, so I was only winded. I'm very careful of my equipment. I read any literature that comes with it, read reviews and watch YouTube videos when I but new gear, so I just don't think that it was used error. and as started I'm under the weight limit for this, and got in and out carefully. very disappointed it had such possibilities for me. I'm returning it along with the straps tomorrow.
First time setting up and easing into the hammock… ripped at the seams and my butt hit solid ground.
Used maybe 4 times before it finally ripped while I was in it. I'm around 6' 1" 155lbs if that helps anyone.
Used for 2 seasons. Stored indoors when not in use. Broke with me in it just now. Still have the ice on the back of my head. I weigh 180lbs. Clearly not built to last.
I loved this hammock and used it several times before it ripped, dangerously, at the seam on one end, spilling me onto the ground. Less than a month of use in!
