This is the 2nd pair of this style of Topos I have purchased. The first pair was returned for a construction defect on the rubber toe guard. This replacement pair has a defect in the construction of the sole, specifically the heel. The heel of the right shoe does not fully contact the surface. It causes a side to side rocking motion. I am extremely disappointed. I wear a size 10 or 10.5. Larger sizes are more difficult to find, so there are no more available, even if I wanted to go through the whole return/exchange process again. What's going on Topo??
I need a zero drop shoe with a wide toe box. I was looking for something that would have more cushion and be more durable than the Altra Lone Peaks. These are ALMOST the perfect solution. Pros: -Nice cushioning (kind of between the lone peak and olympus) -Stack height is not too low or two high -Materials (upper and sole) seem much more durable -Nice colors Cons: -Not as much room in the toes. I don't know exactly why but probably some combination of the lack of volume (space from sole to uppers), front toe curls up, and possibly just a little narrower side to side. It all results in just a bit of a cramped feeling at times. -They feel a little hot/less breathable. I like them but they are the lone peak killers I was hoping for. What would be perfect is a blend of the Topo Pursuit and the Altra Lone Peaks. Hoping maybe the companies will bring in elements from each other in the future. About me: I used these for day hikes of 3 - 9 miles, in all seasons, mostly in Colorado.
Just coming off an Achilles tendon issue, these shoes offer great arch support but also a stiffer sole. Makes for a comfortable walk should you have plantar fasciitis issues, Exactly what my PT guy suggested to wear.
My second pair this year and i love them. I needed to find a replacement for my favorite trail runners because the soles wear down fast and i have to replace the insoles. I don't have the same issues with these shoes and are also comfortable right out of the box. I love the wide toe box and narrow heels.
Topo has been my brand of shoe for many years since toe surgery forced me to find a wide toe box. This year has been a struggle to find my style Topo Phantom so I compared and the Topo Pursuit is working for me. I appreciate REI’s curbside service and availability! Thank you!
This is my third pair of Topo trail shoes. They just keep getting better and better! Instantly a great fit with no break in. My heel is narrow and my forefoot is "normal" width and the shape of these shoes is perfect. The tread is amazing and stable. I love this shoe.
These shoes fit my feet so well! Wide, cushioned enough, sizing was accurate.
As someone who was used to hiking in heavier waterproof hiking shoes, these shoes have felt amazing to hike in. I love the wider toe box and super grippy outsoles. I don't really know what a zero drop shoe is supposed to do or feel like, but I didn't need any time to break in these shoes. Comfortable right out of the box and no blisters at all.
After years of hiking in Altra Lone Peaks, I decided to try the Topo Pursuit. They felt great when I tried them on in the store - more cushion than the Lone Peak with the same wide toe box. I was so excited to try them out on trail, but very disappointed when they started to hurt my feet and ankles. I tried them on a couple of hikes and then switched back to my old Altras to see if I was just having some foot problems. No pain or issues with the Lone Peaks. Unfortunately, I had to return the Topo Pursuits.
Love this shoe. The large toe box makes it super comfy. Great support. I have worn it all over Portugal I will Definately buy this again.
