I have about 100 miles on these and couldn’t be happier! I switched from a similar wide-toe box brand to Topos for my road shoes last Spring and am very glad I did! The wide toe box is great and gives my feet more room than other popular brands. I do not have wide feet but appreciate the extra room in the toe box. Topos seem to last longer than similar brands and seem to have more consistent quality. My husband suggested that I switch to these and gosh danggit he was right! Hah My only wish is that topo had more colors and that REI carried more options (obviously not a deal breaker though)
After trying out two other brands and experiencing a variety of pain (shin splints, hurt toe nails) a running store recommended these - wide toe box, but snugger at the ankle. No issues now! I just ordered my third pair of Topo Ultraflys and plan to stick with these forever. I get about 500 miles out of each pair. Wish there were more color choices. I’m normally an 8.5-9 and get an 8.5 in these. I like my running shoes more fitted overall.
Only shoe I’ve found that has a wide toe box. I used to by Brooks but they have gone the way of every other women’s shoe — a narrow toe even in wide. I wonder how long REI will carry them. I can’t find in my local store.
These were advertised as podiatrist recommended for arthritic big toes. Unfortunately, although they are a nice lightweight shoe, they don't work for hallux rigidus/bunions etc because they are very flexible; they bend easily across the ball of the foot, and are very wiggly when you twist them at the "waist". They do not fit the description given of "stability" at all.
I love these shoes so much. They are incredibly comfortable and by far my favorite road running shoes. You get the wide toe box without being stuck with zero drop. The only downside is they wear a little faster than my old shoes but it's well worth it. Would for sure recommend.
