Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.
Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:
Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.
Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.
Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.

Receive my Torin 6 Wide on 5/25/2023 and pretty exciting cause I am going to attend a running in July. However, I aware there are some defective places from this "brand new" shoes. There is a "tab at the side of the shoes and the reflective line already been tearing. There is another tab on the another one and there is a marked to direct a scratching damaged. The quality of shoes tongue is really bad: I can hear the glue breaking sound when I put my foot in; touched the end of the shoes tongue, that construction is really flimsy. Hopefully it won't be teared away very soon. Any ways, I think REI sent me this shoes with some defective points because it's in promotion...
I have owned many pairs of Altra Lone Peaks. I bought the Torrin 6 for walking shoes (wearing them 3 or so times a week). Pros: Comfortable. With a larger stack than the Lone Peaks the Torrin 6 are amazing. They are not as "slipper" feel as the lone peaks (my worn out Lone Peaks are my house slippers), but they fit your foot rather well. I have heel Spurs and Achilles tendon issues (and super wide midfoot including my toes). Doc told me to try Altras. They are amazing. Cons: the fabric on the torn 6 has torn or separated in many spots to include the top, sides, and the glue points of the souls. My daughter had the same issues with her woman Torrin 6 (she is on her feet all day at work and loves the shoes but they didn't hold up) So, for me, after two months and three-ish days a week of wear (about 3-4 miles a day when I did wear them), the Torrin six did not hold up. Customer service was amazing. I was able to get a gift code for a replacement pair within 48 hours. I am going against my better judgment and trying the Olympus 5 when I know I should just get Lone Peaks again (my lone peaks have had zero issues over the years). Note: I do not run in my shoes. Walk, hike, and wear for work (office work).

Both Torin 6 shoes started to rip at 100+ miles! See pictures. Altra quality has really gone down these pass few years. Altra is needs to go back to their roots and make shoes for runners not for Payless Shoe stores! Over the pass 6 months I have had two out of the 3 models of Altras I purchased fall apart in less than 100 miles. As a loyalist, I am starting to have the feeling of not supporting this brand anymore because the quality is not there and the company is seeming to drift away from the running world and more as a lifestyle vibe.

Are all of Altra's products this poor quality. I've never had a sneaker where the tread had started to detach within a week of wearing, and have the mesh material tear at the ball of my on both sides of each shoe. After 3-4 weeks of wearing I threw them back in the box, and almost forgot about them. I've been working extra shifts at the hospital and needed a break from my Vivo Bearfoot. Pulled these out again, to get upset about the quality of construction again. They've been comfy, and provided the extra cushion I needed, but the quality of the show is poor. There's a wrinkle at the top right corner of the shoe that never evened out after wearing. I assumed it was there because of packaging and shipping, but must be due to some mistake during manufacturing.

Let me start by saying that I love the Altra brand. I've had more that 7 pairs since I was introduced the them. For this review: I purchased this pair back in December 2022, (6 months ago). They are very comfortable shoes, I use them for everyday wear. I'm not a runner or very athletic so these shoes should've lasted me longer than 6 months... About the 4.5/5 month timeframe, they started to develop holes on the inside of both shoes where the ball of each foot would be. Right where the sole of the shoe meets the fabric. I think this should be addressed, not sure I would but this model of Altra again.
I had a 5 month love affair with these shoes. They felt instantly at home on my foot, I wear a wide size and the ultra large toe box is sheer luxury. The shoe has just the right amount of cushion while still allowing good ground feel. This is really a great shoe when new. Unfortunately, the shoe just did not hold up well at all compared to other brands that I have owned or the pair of Lone Peak 5's I hike in. After 5 months I noticed the upper began pulling away from the sole, the fabric lining in the heel wore through, and the treads began to disbond from the sole. While I love wearing the shoe, I really expected them to last longer at this price point. I did take them back to REI but unfortunately they are not eligible for the one year satisfaction guarantee due to wear. I plan to keep wearing them while I look for replacements. I won't buy Torin again and am sorry can't recommend them.
This is a wonderful shoe when new, unfortunately it did not hold up well. The roomy toebox is amazing, just the right amount of cushion to absorb shock while transmitting road feel, and great little details like the slotted holes which keep the flat laces from twisting over time. Now the bad... after 5 months, the upper is separating from the sole, the soles are delaminating and in liner in the heel is worn through. I have gotten much better life from other shoes and brands. Bummer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shoes are very basic. They are a bit narrow at the tip but other than that, they are true to size. The comfort is good enough for light running and other activities. The soles don't give that much support, so it could lead to foot pain after large amounts of walking. The material is fairly comfortable. Overall, these are an unremarkable pair of shoes.
Unfortunately both shoes started to develop tears on the inner side. I love them, too bad they only lasted three months. Was fitted at an authorized dealer too so size is right.....Not worth the money

Initially the best running shoes I've evern owned, but quickly fell out of love. After ~ 6mos, rip/tears began to appear at the toe crease & vamp. Purchased ~07/2022, 300-600 miles of paved trails
