I am quite often cold when we're camping and I picked this up at REI with my member coupon and am so thrilled with it! It's great for hanging around the campsite (I left the booties off because I need arch support) and then I slept in it as well! It's just my new favorite thing. I did size up because I am tall and the medium wasn't long enough.
I agonized over picking the right size. Hopefully this helps you. I'm 5'6" tall, 155lbs, average athletic build, 32 waist, 30 inseam. I bought a medium. The fit: all I wanted this for was winter walks with my dog around the neighborhood. I figured since I wouldn't be wearing the Booties or sleeping in it I'd go with a medium even though I was 1" taller than a medium is recommended for even when only using it actively. If I planned to sleep in it I definitely would gotten the large for extra room. As it is, the medium fits properly. I can walk around with no problem. With the Booties on its definitely tight. Still wearable, but tight. When I raise my arms up the sleeves get pulled way down to my forearms and the crotch pulls up even tighter than it normally is. I didn't get a large because I didn't want this to be baggy at all when I was walking around. I wanted to be able to put a layer over it when it got below freezing and still walk outside comfortable. The medium works well for that and is just comfortable enough to not be annoying. As far as the selkbag itself goes, it's super comfortable and super warm. Honestly it's as warm as any of the down winter jackets I own with the added benefit of keeping my legs just as warm and not letting drafts in as even the warmest 2 piece winter outfit would. The zippers all work well and are easy to grasp even with light gloves on. The elastic hand pouches at the end of the sleeves is great for keeping the hand warm while still allowing you to slip your hands outside of them if / when necessary. The kangaroo pocket is convenient although the material on the external portion of the pocket is not insulated like the under layer is. The hood is just as warm as the rest of the bag and clinches up nice with the Drawcord. The material of the back really is buttery soft all around. At first I thought of getting the Original model but I'm glad I didn't as the lite model is plenty warm enough without all the extra baggy ess that would impede mobility. I suppose if you're winter camping, or depending hours outside in sub 40 degree weather you might want the original, but for an hour or less outside, even down to 36 degrees this is enough.
I am 5’10” and this fits perfect for length and could fit a decently large person (I am 210 pounds). Super warm and comfy. Has a small pocket on the inside and we put our iPod there and it holds fine. My wife will wear it to stay warm at any hint of cold and will wear it more than me inside the house. We will be telling everyone about it!
On the plus side, it packs up smaller than I expected for a novelty item, and seems well made. This is a true summer weight bag, and I don't see it keeping me warm if it's at all chilly, but they sell thicker ones if you want warmer. The biggest downside is as a 5'8", size 10 woman, the large is too short to sit comfortably. Standing it is ok, although the crotch seems weirdly situated. When I sit down with booties on, it pulls uncomfortably at my neck and the hood won't even go on my head, it's way too short. Booties off (then where is the fun?) I can hike the hem up to mid-calf and then be able to sit down and pull the hood halfway up my head, but it's still not "loungeworthy". I'm very much in the middle of the height range for this size and it's just too short. The arms are plenty long, a smidge longer than I would want for a jacket but works well to pull your hands in and it's easy to roll the sleeves up if you wanted to cook or something. Alas, this will be going back, not sure if I'll try an XL.
This is super warm. However, they run a little small, so you may want to size up. I like the storage pouch they come in and I like that the feet zip off.
Selk bag is a great idea, got it for watching kids' sports & cold nights at home. Size is a problem--I'm 5'6" and medium was too short in overall length & sleeves. I'm thin & am afraid if I go up to large size I'll look like a Teletubby.
Light weight and comfortable I own 3 bags now. This one is the best.
Cozy item, great for the outdoors and camping. Runs large! Order a size down.
I'm not a fan of sleeping bags because I like freedom of movement when I sleep - this "wearable" did the trick in that regard. However, don't go to sleep with the feet off if you think you might need them back on as the nighttime temps drop. The ankle zippers can really only be redone in the daylight, when you're not wearing it. Also, note that it's specifically rated to "47 degrees" and it gets cold if temps go any lower. Overall, though, I think it's comfortable.
I purchased for my husband but its too small after I tried it on. I'm 5'7" 150lbs and with the booties zipped its almost not long enough for me to wear. For anyone larger than me, the shoulder width would be too small. If I purchase for a bigger size, I'd go 1x bigger for myself and 2x bigger for my husband.
