These shoes are amazing. First impression: I pulled them out of the box and the laces were already set up perfectly to pull them on, tie them up, and hit the road. This may not sound like a big deal, but to me it showed the level of detail and the amount of love that Brooks puts into each shoe. First run: I'm on a cloud. I felt like I was in The Sandlot wearing PF Flyers, "shoes guaranteed to make a kid run faster and jump higher." I immediately broke my fastest mile time. Funny story: went to hang out with my best friend and his wife, and she has the same shoes (different color)! She loves them too. I can't recommend these enough.
I loved the Launch 6 as a high mileage trainer for their resilience and durability, they lived far beyond their lifespan with around 900 miles on them when I retired them. I was very excited to give the 7's a go, but was severely let down by their lack of durability in comparison to the 6. After around 100 miles, the cuff around the ankle and heel began wearing out, exposing the sharp inner material that destroyed the skin around my achilles, ankle, and cut right through a couple pairs of socks. The ride feels great, the midsole is responsive and light, and the outsole has held up well. Unfortunately, I have to put these away for good after only about 250 miles, which is a bummer because the rest of the shoe has a lot of life left in them.
Coming from Launch 6s, I'm not a big fan of the Launch 7. The sole feels stiffer so each step feels more jolting. The highest lace holes (up near the ankle) also sit a little bit higher. The last two lace holes up near the ankle have a hard plastic lining that the Launch 6 did not have. I've found that the plastic sits bad on my foot and has caused a little tendonitis in the area. Overall the Launch 7 is an ok shoe. It's a no frills shoe that will get you from point A to point B. Only thing I like better on the Launch 7 than the Launch 6 is the laces which were made longer and softer. However, this causes them to fray easier.
Brooks almost had it with this shoe It had what I wanted, stiffer for training, quicker for training, and even a comfortable upper for training. Plus it looks sick too In the color-ways, as I even got a few compliments wearing them. Also the cancer research pair is amazing to see. However, the shoe was a tad too stiff and even jarring at points.I originally attained this to the break in period of the shoe, however it didn’t get that much better. The midsole is unresponsive too, which bothers me a bit. It will do for the next 400 miles but if I had the choice again I would buy a shoe a little softer, not at ghost level soft though.
I have been running in Brooks Launch shoes for years. I have used multiple pairs of Launch 5's and Launch 6's. I have worn 10.5, 11, and 11.5 in the past models. They all fit fine. I ordered a pair of Launch 7's, size 11, and they were so loose that I could not comfortably run in them at all. It is unfortunate because I have loved these shoes in the past, enough to buy the newest version. I hope that next time Brooks changes the sizes, they advertises a fit change so runners like me don't have to be unpleasantly surprised. Since the Launch 7's did not fit, I ordered a size 11 in the Launch 6's elsewhere and they fit perfectly.
Purchased this running shoe as my old Brooks had seen their better day. I wanted the Adrenaline 20’s which were the most comfortable but just couldn’t find the design/colors I was looking for. These shoes were comfortable wearing around the house but wore a blister on my upper heel after a power walk. Ended up buying some Brooks socks which helped and haven’t had any issues since. Overall, Brooks are the more comfortable running shoe but I still like how Nike designs their shoes better (fashion-wise). I recently ordered a pair of Pegasus 37’s which I could choose the color/design myself. I would love to see Brooks adopt this concept with their running shoes.
I have been wearing the Launch since the 2 came out and have always been pleased by the feel and stability of the shoe and that they are ready to go straight out of the box with little need for breaking in, I can usually get 400-450 miles out of a pair with just the regular wear on the treads. But the 7 did not hold up like it’s siblings, the mesh near the laces started splitting around 250 miles in and the heel cushion started to wear on both just before 300 miles. I’m hoping it was just one bad pair, but definitely disappointed that they didn’t hold up like the other models. Don’t feel like I got my money’s worth out of this pair and had to retire them early.
I bought these shoes after taking the online fit test. The first thing is that they really do work wonderfully running! I notice the extra "spring" and speed running around the city and have had no knee pain at all in my first three runs. HOWEVER The design of the heel curves up and in, meaning after my first run, it rubbed all the skin off my upper heel/Achilles. Like REALLY bad. So after some healing, I'm able to wear the shoes again, but only with industrial band-aids covering the skin. I've never had a shoe that presses so intensely into the upper heel like this, which is why I can only give it three stars.
I've dome 100miles in these in the month of April. I'm not a big runner but due to the circumstances I decided to start running on the road about 7miles at a time. I'm a decent size 6ft 225lbs and told to look into Brooks. I gave the shoe finder a try it was super easy and turns out it did a decent job a picking a great shoe for me. I love these things fit true to size and feel light and fast on the road. Also purchased the socks with the Achilles tab on the back due to reviews of it rubbing a little but haven't had much of a problem with that. But I am enjoying the Launch 7s and can't wait to get more use out of them.
But good god almighty do they dig into your heel. They probably should have lined the heel with hardened steel sharpened to an edge to make it softer cuz whatever they put in the heel is worse than that.
