I've owned five pairs of GHOAST and use them for my annual 800 to 2000 miles of road training and racing. They are a reliable choice that I don’t have to think about while running. The design has improved, especially for heel strikers like me. The sole durability is better than before; I can reach about 600 miles on a pair while they still look and feel good. My first pair lasted 900 miles before retiring. I also use four other brands, and as someone with wide feet, I've tried both standard and wide versions. The wide fit offers extra toe space, but the added width around the laces is excessive for me. The standard fit works fine after breaking them.
Like many reading these reviews I've been using Brooks for a very long time. Theu are my favorite brand, but the Ghost 16's are a step back in fit and quality. They are very soft, which is nice, but my ankle rubs on side of every pair I've tried (I currently own the white/tan version), and the shoe upper has already started to fold and collapse and rubs the top of my feet pretty extensively, making runs uncomfortable. Along with the upper, the tread itself also seems to be wearing out after very limited use. Super frustrating. Compared to the new Ghost Max 2 and Glycerin 21, the Ghost 16 is unfortunately not up to par.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have difficulty with my running style causing excessive wear on my shoes. Just 3 miles can visibly affect the soles. The Brooks Ghost 16 running shoes have remedied this issue. In the 2 weeks since I have been wearing them, there is no noticeable wear on the tread and I feel lighter and more supported during runs. In addition, my run time has greatly improved and I have less fatigue in my feet. The shoes are made of high quality material, are soft and extremely comfortable and fit perfectly. The design is attractive enough that I can wear them out with a polo and a nice pair of jeans if needed. I am extremely satisfied with these shoes and highly recommend!
The Ghost 16 have been super disappointing. I thought they would get better as I wore them in, but I never really had to do that with any Ghost in the past. Shoe is smaller and thinner than the past. Quality seems much worse. These 16s have 135 miles of walking (very little running) on pavement, and they're already done. The tread is worn thru on the left shoe, and they've been uncomfortable for the last month. I got over 350 miles on my 14s. The pictures tell the story. I'm now not sure what to do for my next shoes. I've put so many people in Brooks, especially the Ghost. I can't do that after the 16.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These running shoes are incredible. As someone who runs both road and trail I'm always looking for good options for both. These run slightly wide but that worked out to my advantage as most shoes are too tight for me. I've put some serious distance on them and they've not given me a single blister or pain. I like that they are very stylish for running shoes and go with most outfits and I don't mind if I have to stop in an errand with them on. The fabric is breathable and soft which was the icing on top. I wouldn't change a single thing about these shoes and I'll definitely be purchasing again!
Have used ghosts for years and this model has worn down more quickly than the 15s I bought last year. Very noticeable drop in overall build quality out of the box and it definitely failed the durability test for me. Guess I'll have to pick a new running shoe..
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great-looking and functional shoe but runs a touch narrow compared to my other Brooks models, and the 12 mm drop makes that feel even more awkward. The upper is breathable without being really stretchy and unstable. It also looks really nice. A+ The nitrogen-infused foam makes for a nice rice. Soft, comfortable, and lightweight without feeling mushy. A The 12 mm drop makes the transition to the toe feel a bit exaggerated and probably what makes me notice the toebox being a little narrow. That may be necessary with the new material, but who knows. All of this adds up to a little more jarring ride, and a less comfortable fit for a bigger guy that doesn't wear a wide shoe but needs all of the room in a standard width.
I started with brooks a few years ago with the “anthem” and then the ghost 13. Since the. I’ve tried a few brands with no luck (foot pain) then this shoe came out and was recommended to me by big peach running co. Instant comfort! I recently started running again and I typically run 2-3 miles 5 days a week or so. This shoe fits my foot perfectly in a 10.5 2E. I will definitely get another pair, my only gripe is that they show wear quickly. That seems to be a common trend with premium daily trainers. That being said I’ll still get another pair because they are so comfortable and fit well. I’ve tried hokas and they don’t even compare.
This is still a very comfortable shoe with great support. However, I’m disappointed in the 16. The 15 was a great version all the way around. I wear a wide shoe and the Ghost 15 and the 13 before that were perfect fits. Brooks didn’t quite get it all right with the 16. The fit is tighter with the same size and width and not nearly as comfortable as the previous versions. Also, my pair came with one shoe lace being about 6 inches shorter than the other. I’ve been a Brooks Ghost and Cascadia fan for several years without even trying other brands. Next time I’ll have to try others and Brooks will have to work harder to bring me back.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, the Ghost 16 Brooks running shoes are great! Very supportive soles with lightweight and breathable uppers. Foot feels snug, no slippage. The design is simple which I prefer, but with a pop of color from the soles that you can see from all sides. And most importantly, the shoe offers solid support while running, but not too much where your foot feels too elevated which also means not an overaggressive amount of bounciness. The shoes run true to size and fit for my size 10 feet. The laces tie well and are not too long or too short.
