Attention to Detail
I use these for running when temps drop into the 20's and 30's. They keep my hands warm until I've run far enough to warm up. I think the little clasp they use to snap the gloves together is perfect. You just pinch it to release. When you have cold hands and lack dexterity, this little bonus is a welcomed feature.
Stitching tore neoprene within weeks
Manzella sewed a 1" x 1" probably nylon logo on the medial side of the neoprene wrist band. It serves no function, other than reminding us of the brand name that we already see elsewhere on the glove. The medial side of the glove is shaped to provide a hint of tab for pulling the glove on. But pulling there causes the neoprene to rip where the logo is stitched on. Mine tore within a few short weeks of purchase, 100s of miles from any REI. I cut the logo off, then stitched the tear up. It may hold. Stupid design.
REI Gets No Love
People love to bash, but these are pretty good gloves. I had them out in 35 degrees with 20mph wind chill, and I was surprised by how much my hands did not feel the wind at all. Perfect. Today I had them out in 28 degrees and 15mph chill (sunny) and they were challenged until my body temp came up from brisk walking (near jog). That's pretty good for gloves that are extremely svelte and not bulky. If no wind chill, I might wear these down to 20 degrees. The tailoring is a good fit too. Can't comment on longevity, nor touchscreen ability. nor whether the insulation will compress and become useless. I hope not- love em.
NOT THE WARMTH THEY ARE ADVERTISED TO BE
I purchased 2 pairs of these, 1 for a friend and 1for myself. Together we do a lot of hunting in cold weather and these gloves were suppose to be the warmest but a couple days ago while hunting in 30F plus weather my fingers got COLD, today my friend called and said his hands were freezing, temp was 31F so it wasn't that a got a bad pair. I had to put hand warmers inside mine to keep my hands warm and at $50.00 a pair you shouldn't have to do this. I use hand warmers in $15.00 gloves so that is wher I am ranking these. I would have given them 1 star but they seem to be water proff for now.
They tore apart on the first day.
I bought these before going out on a snowshoeing trip last year. On the first day I was pulling them on and the stitching around the cuff on one of the gloves tore out. The next time I put them on after that, the stitching around the cuff of the other glove tore also. What a waste of money. Terrible quality.
Love 'em - ideal lighter weight winter glove
Needed a glove for regular driving, after skiing, etc. These have been excellent for regular daily wear, tho can imagine they may not be up to stressful use, per other review. Very soft flexible glove that gives a very natural feel. I'd rate higher but haven't used in in heavier conditions -- snow falls, shoveling, etc. So far have used down to upper teens, and they have worked well.
Great for short distance biking
I bought these after getting much lighter gloves for xmas, and they definitely do the job. I hate winter with all of my being and they keep my hands warm while bike commuting in the bitter cold. I should mention that they're probably not insulated enough for temps below 15 degrees Fahrenheit.
Warm, but the cuff tears easily
Bought these gloves a little over a month ago. They keep my hands warm, although we have yet to make it to deepest part of winter. The neoprene cuff where the label tears easily. I am going to make a trip back to REI to return these and maybe look at a different pair of gloves. If I do an outright exchange, the very first thing I do will be to take the tag off of the cuff. I still recommend these gloves, I just wish the manufacturer put the tag on the top of the hand or better yet, leave it off. Unneeded.
Really terrible.
Not warm enough. After just few times of wear there is a tear in one glove where the red logo is. It created quite a big hole. I have a photo, but couldn't upload to the REI's site.
Soft and Warm!
I was surprised by how snug and comfortable these fit. After wearing a few times they are definitely comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time. The outer shell of the gloves seem very durable and being waterproof is a huge plus! Great for using in snowy conditions (which we got way too early in Colorado!) The fit is very good. This allows for them to be easily used when doing tasks as they don't feel too bulky. Along with this, the fact that the touchtip fingers work on touch screen devices is a good bonus. I definitely recommend and I look forward to using these this winter.
