Love Lights, Not The Rear Bracket
Love my new lights. Nice and bright and don’t have to constantly replace alkaline. Only issue is the rubber bracket for attaching the rear light. It just doesn’t inspire confidence that it won’t be jarred loose. And I’d lose my expensive light. Plus, it’s too short to wrap around seat post. So had to install at an angle on the strut down to the rear wheel. Currently searching for other attachments to more securely attach it. Something like the front, not rubber.
Great Trail Light
I really like the beam pattern of this light, seems to be a bit more wide than the Nite Riders and the light color also seems to work out quite well for the trails. I often try to run it just at the 400 or 800 lumen level running it off of my handle bar (I also use a Nite rider 750 on my helmet), to ensure my battery life is okay. The 800 "lumen" setting (second highest) seems to be more than sufficient for navigating trails at 6-12 mph. Hoping to test it more during the longer nights now, so can't say how the battery life is for sure. Overall it seems to be well built and the clip interface is sturdy. The rear light seems decent and it is nice and compact. I've been using the belt clip attachment for the rear, to attach it to my hip hydration pack.
A Necessity For Daytime Urban Cycling
I use these for daytime urban riding. They are fabulous—I’ve seen drivers do double-takes as they look up from their phones, and drivers seem to be giving me more space when passing. But they’ve gone from some sort of “nice-to-have” item to a necessity in the space of four or five urban rides.
The Ion Pro RT stopped working after 1 year of use
Worked very well while it did! Came back from a long ride one day, put it on for charging, and then next ride, it would not turn on. The indicator status light was a steady red. Perhaps a bad battery. Will try and return it. Called Bontager support, which was very nice, and they said that these thins have a 2 year warranty. So i maybe in luck!
SUPER BRIGHT
Really bright light with outstanding battery life. Only one problem. The charger is not USB-C. They still use the old school Micro USB. the battery would charge way faster with a USB-C and is would be compatible to newer cellphones and other devices out on the market. Now I have to carry anextra charger just for these light. Would've been nice to only carry one for all my devices.
Outstanding lighting in the dark
Amazing lighting power in the pitch black, excellent selection of lighting modes (blinking flare, steady, bright, dim, etc.). Universal mounting is a snap, easy to use... what else can you say? Haven't run it long enough to test battery life but this light set is the envy of my riding friends and always asked to ride point to light up the path for everyone else.
Ion RT Light stopped charging 1 Year after Buying
The Ion RT Front Light stopped charging exactly a year after buying. I had a short battery life and was only used 10 times at most...
Bright Until They Die
Ive had 2 Front and 2 rear. 1 rear died 5s after using it. The first front lost its gasket and died when it rained. 2nd one, rain got through the charging gasket and it died. Too expensive not to be rain-proof. And seriously, the DOA rear showed me that they overcharge for cheaply made. Ive had a 50% failure rate on ALL my Bontrager accessories. They make good helmets. Thats about it. Well, IDK.
Great lights
Awesome lights. Very bright. Easy to charge and use.
Dissapointment
Ion Pro RT failed after 70 minutes of total run time. I plugged it in to charge overnight for my morning commute. When I unplugged it the Power button had an orange light that would not shut off. Consequently the light would not turn on either. Eventually orange light died, now the light does nothing. This was my first bicycle light, so I'm not sure how exactly it should have gone. I'm hoping to exchange it at my local store, but if the second one fails too I may start avoiding Bontrager Products.
