So when I first saw the Trackr Radar my first thought was “kinda pricey for a tail light “ boy was I in for a surprise! And of course you always want to check blind spots, keep your head on a swivel, and practice all the rules of the road!! But this little gem is a game changer!! The radar displays on your wahoo computer in a very intuitive way with sounds, and color changes to let u know what’s coming. In high traffic it will be going quite a bit and it can be helpful but where I feel it really shines for me is on the rural roads with not much traffic. Can’t say enough about it I would suggest it to anyone who wants more peace of mind out on road!
I was a little hesitant to purchase the RADAR and thought of it as a gimmick initially but this works so well. Nothing replaces actually turning around to check for cars but this is an additional tool for safety. I'm sure future iterations will work much better (cars approaching on parallel roads, or trucks will show as two vehicles). Setup was extremely easy, basically turn the thing on and it works. I still don't think this is a necessity but if you have the money might as well help enhance your safety.
The 1-star rating is not about the device; it is about the experience. I have switched from the Garmin infrastructure to the Wahoo infrastructure for biking and fitness, and I can totally say that Wahoo is way better and more seamless than Garmin. I love Wahoo products since I made the switch! However, I cannot actually review this light as it is caught up in the quagmire of the OnTrac shipping system that REI uses. No updates for 4 days. No customer support. Nothing. Google the OnTrac yourself and you will see the crazy negative reviews. REI is GREAT, but ONLY BUY IN PERSON FROM AN REI RETAIL LOCATION! I thought I was being loyal by ordering this from REI. I have been punished for that! I could have easily bought this from Amazon, but I thought I would support REI. MISTAKE! If you cannot get to an REI retail location, then just go to Amazon or your product's e-commerce site, instead to make the purchase.
1. Wish there was a more comprehensive user guide 2. Seems to have a longer battery life than Garmin Varia Radar light. 3. The light is not showing at the end of a ride after I end my ride on my Garmin Edge 1050. I am guessing it is working till then. 4. Difficult to know if is off or standby after recharging
This is my first radar device and it is so helpful to know ahead of time when a vehicle is approaching, so I can make an effort to hug the side of the road when necessary. I highly recommend this if you already have a Wahoo computer - why wouldn't you want this? Thank you Wahoo!
This is a great accessory everyone should have if you ride a bike. The set up is easy and I’ve found the accuracy great. I bought this as a replacement for a radar I had from another brand. The other brand had many false positives while the Wahoo is more precise.
I’ve used it for a couple of weeks. I give it “5 Stars” for ease of use and integration with my Element Roam. It works as advertised, identifying vehicles coming up on me, and is quite good at it - another “5 Stars. ” It’s so good at it that it also identifies other cyclists behind me. If I’m riding with a group that’s annoying, as the alarm goes off repeatedly. I won’t use it for group rides because of that, which decreases its utility for me. That fact drops my rating to “4 Stars. ” The mount works great, but is proprietary - 4 stars. The last thing I’d say is out of the box, without me fiddling with settings, the battery life is not very good. I often go on 40 - 50 mile gravel rides, which puts me in the 3 to 4 hours of use. The battery doesn’t last that long. I’ll look into different settings to see if I can get longer life out of it. But 2 hours or so of battery life is not very useful for me - 2 Stars. I’d say it’s a good product if you’re into rides that last less than 2 hours. You’ll be charging it after every ride. Overall I’d give it 3 stars. I’m a bit disappointed to be honest.
I love my new Trackr Radar. It works great, gives me a heads up for traffic coming up behind me and synced seamlessly with my Wahoo Elemnt. I can't imagine riding without it.
This device works great and is very sensitive to oncoming traffic. Would highly recommend to anyone riding on the road.
Outstanding. Performs as anticipated with my element bolt v2. Highly recommend.
