Nice compact lights
Good light set. I've been using an older version of this set for the past 5 years and recently bought the same set for a new bike. I like that the lights are small, have one on my helmet and the other on the handlebar. The day lightning mode helps cars see you and I notice fewer cars pull out in front of me with this setting on. The plastic cover over the usb will fall off but it's not really needed. I've ridden dozens of times in the rain after the cover fell off with no issue. The flashing green light flashes faster as the battery loses charge and helps me adjust light intensity so I can be sure it works all the way home. I have noticed that the Dash 520 with this set only has 7 modes but REI and the manufacturer advertise 8 modes. It seems the "Boost" mode is not available with this 520. Not sure what happened but taking off a star for this.

Can't Rely on These Lights
First the good: I love the fast elastic strap attachment system. It's very fast and painless to swap these lights between several bikes. Unfortunately, despite trying to be conscientious about keeping these lights charged, I keep finding myself riding the dark with these lights. The "low battery" indicator isn't at all intuitive (the headlamp power button flashes green when the battery is running low, and the taillight just seems to go out). The battery life is so short that it's extremely easy to run out of battery. Five stars, minus one star for each time I've been left riding in the dark in the eight weeks that I've had these lights.

Disappointed

The lights are good but disappointed about the protective covering for the usb cable as this fell off during our ride (my 2nd time using the lights) and so now, I cant use it when it rains. No info too if there is a spare cover available for purchase.

Fantastic light!

I bought this light a couple of years ago. It had sat in my bike bag since the start of the pandemic and finally was taken out for a ride tonight. I had not charged these lights for at least a year and totally forgot they were in my bike bag. We were riding later than planned and at dug into the bag to find these. I didn’t have much hope, but amazingly enough they both still had a charge and worked on high for the half hour ride home in the dark! I am amazed they still had a charge and worked after all this time, and couldn’t recommend them any higher! Buy these!

Poor battery life and hostile warranty support

These lights are a big disappointment. After reading good reviews I bought a set and now found that the battery life is poor - the units need to recharge after every use to be reliable. The taillight waterproofing comes apart even with careful use and the online warranty service is poor - they won't pay for shipping for service and seem to believe in the "customer is always negligent and wrong" as a mantra. Very disappointed.

amazingly bright lights!

These are awesome. USB rechargable. I keep them on for the entirety of my rides on one of the blinking modes and they last about 6 hours. you could turn them on when on the road and off when on trail to conserve battery life if needed. They are SO bright. They make me feel really safe when riding and all the different modes are great. The best part is the flexible straps! The lights will affix essentially anywhere on your bike! I hope these last a long time because they really are awesome. Totally worth the $.

Great for daytime use.

I am a believer in day time lights on bikes. Using them I have had many fewer close calls with cars. The set I had used for several years would no longer take a charge. What I like about the Hotshot: 1. Buttons easy to push to select function. 2. Pseudo-random flashing mode. IMO that is the best for daytime use. 3. Real easy to align USB cord for charging. I have not (yet) used these lights after dark, but probably OK on streets that are not totally dark.

Disappointing Battery Life

While both front and rear lights are bright, the battery life for both is much less than advertised. Very disappointing, especially considering the price.

Why would you do that you jerks

Bought this online without seeing it first. I'm amazed and confounded at how inflexible the taillight mount is. The bracket has an asymmetrical design that means it can basically only be attached to a vertical seat post. Can't mount it to a rack. Can't mount it to a helmet. Can't unscrew the bracket from the light and screw it on to a different bracket, unless you do it at the joint for the angle adjustment. There's some kind of clip built into the light housing behind the bracket, but nothing on the box or the website says what it is or what it's for. There's no adapters available for this light. The headlight looks pretty good, but because this is a combo pack, now I have to return the whole thing. The decisionmaking that went into this choice astounds me. It's like they tried to make the light as inflexible as possible. To me, as the consumer, this makes no sense. I honestly cannot get over it and move on. Now I'll spend the rest of my life, or at least until I get another cup of coffee in me, wondering what these designers were thinking. Thanks a lot, designers. I wish I could forget you.

Cygolite Dash 520 / Hotshot Micro 30

I am using these lights for daytime visibility only so I did not need high lumen lights. These fit the bill and the price is right. Appear to hold a charge for at least four hours. I have never run them out of power
