Warm, cozy, packs down well! So great to find a bag that fits my big girl body and my budget -- I finally got to go on my first backpacking trip! THANK YOU Marmot for making a shorter extra-wide bag. Last thing I wanted to do was carry around an extra foot or more of length when I already have to carry extra width! I'm 5'2 and around 300/size 30 and I had enough room to fully zip and even shift around in the night! Still plenty of length in this thing for me, and I slept mostly on my side and stomach without problems. Super cozy at 44 degrees out. The hood was mostly to keep my pillow in place. The compression sack's straps are a little wonky but it's a lifesaver to have that included.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quality. Lightweight. Well made. Marmot Design Features, good zippers, compression sack, storage sack, foot box, functional warm hood, ample shoulder area, quick drying, built to last, soft interior, affordable, great deal on sale.
I went camping in various weather conditions with this bag. The first time camping with it the night was in the sixties, and this bag worked great. The second time I camped the night was in the 40s; I was pretty cold. I kept getting cold pockets in the bag. The third time camping, it was in the high 20s, and I was so cold I ditched and went to a hotel. It's a comfy bag, and if you shove it into a compression bag, you can get it pretty small for backpacking. Overall good for late summer, but forget using this bag in Fall depending on where you live.
I bought this bag for cold cabin conditions in winter in Northern California, and based on this criteria, the bag has been perfect. The hood is generously sized, and has kept my head warm at night when outside temps have dipped to the 20s, and the width allows for comfortable repositioning. I am 5'9" and opted for the long size. It's definitely too long, but I don't mind. The cons: once the zipper is all the way unzipped, it can be a little finicky to get back up. Also, it takes a bit longer to build up warmth in the bag, compared to my down bags. I highly recommend for cooler conditions. That being said, no way would I be comfortable sleeping outside in 20 degree weather with this.
This bag is only for someone who sleeps flat on their back and doesn't move around and need to get out of it... the zip is a 2/3, meaning it stops just above the knee, so you have to slide out the top to get in and out. Not wide enough for side sleeping in the bag, if you roll to your side, you roll off your pad. Not a bag for someone who likes to kick their feet out "to breath" or if you want to get out easily, you can't bend your knees in the bag... I would have returned/exchanged for a different style had I realized this, but the return policy expired before I got a chance to use it. It was a gift... so now it takes up space in the gear closet... perfect bag for someone who likes mummy style bags and sleeping posture.
This was my very first sleeping bag purchase for a weekend outdoor camping trip. It got down to 30° And I was honestly very warm with an accompanying blanket over the top of me, I even woke up a little too warm throughout the night- which I was grateful for instead of waking up freezing. I’m 5’2 and I got the regular, I wouldn’t be able to wear any shoes or slippers inside of the sleeping bag (if it were really cold) because it would be too tight of a fit. It’s crazy light, the color is cute and it did exactly what I had expected. No real complaints! Love the features so far.
My daughter stayed warm in this bag on a night that dropped to 19 degrees with strong winds. Bag fits nicely in the bottom pocket of her backpack. She is 5'1" and 110 lbs.
lightweight, comfy, cozy, easy zippers... loved this bag. We slept in 35degree temperature with dew on the inside of my tent on a recent backpacking trip and i still slept like a baby all night. I am 5'6", 150lbs and it fit me well. I definitely wouldn't go any smaller.
Was very uncomfortably cold in this bag in July in the North Cascades at about 6000 ft elevation. Definitely not a 20 degree bag as it wasn't even freezing outside. Also was cold car camping in Bend in June. I would say it needs to be night temperatures of at least 40 degrees to be comfortable in this bag. Was lightweight for backpacking, though.
I've used this bag twice now. The first time was a test run where it got down to about 25°F, and I stayed pretty comfortable the whole night, despite having an uninsulated sleeping pad. The second time it got down to 16°F (with a real feel of 1°) and although I was chilly, I never reached the point of shivering from cold. I used a foam thermarest pad under my inflatable pad, thick socks, 2 pairs of pants, a base shirt, sweater, and fuzzy thermal on top, and a balaclava and a hat. Both times I put 4 super hand warmers in my sleeping bag for a little extra warmth. Though I woke up with cold toes, both nights I was able to sleep relatively comfortable without fearing for my life. I like the colors of the bag and the inside pocket for my headlamp and phone. Also like that it comes with a large storage stack as well as a compression sack, although the compression sack straps are a little dinky. My only complaint is that I wish the neck baffle had a drawstring to cinch out cold air, because it kept lifting up and letting in drafts of icyness. Overall, this is a nice cold weather bag for the price and hopefully it lasts me a long time!
