For the price, I really can’t complain. this was the first tent I bought when I was getting into backpacking way back in 2016 and use it prob 6-7 times a year. This bad boy and I have been through freezing ice, hailstorms, and wild thunderstorms and has held up perfectly! Kept me dry in the pouring down rain and haven’t really had a need for buying anything else. If you take care of your gear, they’ll take care of you on the trails.
Got as a gift from my kids. Have had my sunriver 2 a little over 2 years now. Use it for loaded bicycle touring and for overnight hiking trips. Used both by myself and with a hiking buddy. Light, waterproof, easy to set up - what more could you want. Only disadvantage is there is ony one door but not a big deal if you are camping by yourself.
I've owned my Sunriver 2 for probably 8 years now - I've used it camping all over the country from Florida to Nevada, and never had an issue with it. I'm about to take it out to Nevada, Arizona, and Utah again for 11 days. I'm a big guy (well north of 250 pounds) and there is no way anyone else could effectively fit in here with me - we could fit, lying down, but there would be no room for you to do anything but roll over in place. That said, I love this tent
I have been sharing a 2 man tent with a friend who supplied the tent and decided I needed my own. She has a Black Diamond which was at least $200 more than my budget. I tried a bunch of other 1-2 person tents in the $100 - $200 range and finally decided on this one. It actually has more interior space than the Black Diamond. It was quite easy to set up, although it does have a separate rain fly that has to be set up if you are going to use it. I've been camping in the deserts of Utah and Arizona so I sometimes leave that and a few stakes home. The rain fly is the heaviest part of this tent. It it 1lb 2 oz heaver than the black diamond, but 1-1.5 lbs lighter than any other 2 person tent available under $200. It is the same size as the REI half dome and sets up similarly, and is 1.3 pounds less in weight and costs less. I also required a freestanding tent and this one was just right. I would definitely recommend. I totally recommend to my friends that they pick one up while it's a discounted price.
Nicely sized tent, I (190lbs 6'1") and my fiance fit snugly inside, however I would not recommend for anyone taller than me. The two side pockets and top shelf work excellent for storing bits of gear. The only downside to this tent is that the vestibule is on the small side. We fit a 65L and 70L inside but it was tight and the sides of the fly were hitting the packs.
I bought this for Backpacking. It goes up easy and has plenty of room for me. It’s half the weight of my old tent.
I’ve had this tent for four years and it has been with me through everything from torrential down pours, to sunny days camping on the beach, to bitter cold nights backpacking and it has absolutely stood up to everything that nature could throw at it. For this price there is nothing better. I’m a eureka fan for life after this tent.
This tent is listed as a 2-person tent. Perhaps. I am 5'8" and 150 Lbs. and this tent is cozy with my 5'1" wife. I can't imagine two 6'+ people in this tent. I will use this as a solo tent or for my kids. Quality seems good, especially for the price. The tent is light and well designed and is simple to put up.
I got this tent for Christmas 2 years ago, & it is still going strong. My boyfriend & I use it all the time for over night hikes. Was pretty warm in summer trips, but I’m glad cause it means it’s nicely insulated for when I do colder nights. Only complaint is it gets cramped with my boyfriend AND my German Shepard dog, but I know it’s not really meant for 2 people + big dogs. I put 4 stars cause the set up if you do it by yourself can be a bit tricky.
Inherited this tent from my uncle who was too tall for it. At 5’7, it’s the perfect size for my gear and me. I’ve been camping all around Washington in it for the past 3 years and love it so much! I’ve shared it with another person, and it’s tight but doable. Definitely recommend this tent!
