Fantastic tent!
This tent is fantastic! Easy to set up and it’s a great size for two people (6’3” and 5’8”). It’s also super light and packs down small, so it’s great for traveling in a plane and backpacking.

Too Small for Rating
This tent is fine as far as it goes, but is nowhere near a 3 person tent. There is barely room for two people. As a rule, I subtract one person from a tent size rating, so a two person is more appropriate for a single, three person is adequate for two people, etc. But this is hardly big enough for two people. Very cramped, with the sleeping pads touching each other and no room inside for additional gear.

Excellent tent, especially for the price

My partner and I have backpacked numerous times with this tent and it has withstood some harsh conditions. If you use the addtional guylines, this tent will keep you dry through harsh wind and rain. It recently held up through 14 hours of nonstop heavy rain, and we were completely dry. If you are on the smaller side like us, (5'6 and below), you can fit two people with packs inside this tent. Sturdy yet light enough for two people to split and backpack with. Absolutely love it.

Great tent.

I have had this model tent for about a year. It is easy to set up and a great shelter. It withstood big wind at the Great Sand Dunes NP and below freezing at Yellowstone NP.

Great for a novice!

This is a nice no-frills little tent that was easy to set up and kept me, a friend, and three dogs dry and cozy on a spring night. I can’t speak on extreme weather but it’s very good for casual camping. I don’t believe I would take it backpacking because it would be too heavy and take up a lot of space. My only beef is that I wish it came with two more door poles or at least had an extra set that is easy to purchase separately.

Not a 3 Person Tent!!!

The claims to be a 3 person tent. IT IS NOT. It is a 2 person tent. It is easy to set up. If you want a footprint, you have to pay an extra $50. You cannot order new tent poles from North Face for this tent. I can easily see that these poles will need replacing before a year has passed. Please note that I camp in this tent everyday as I am cycling the United States

great so far! 2 week road trip

Held up well during my most recent 2 week road trip. Used in Canada, Washington, and Oregon. Replaced my 12 year old similar North Face tent. It doesn’t come with a footprint, so remember you’ll need to buy that as well. And you should. Because the floor material of this tent is not as hearty as it is on my last North Face backpacking tent. I was solo this trip, but could definitely fit 2 adults with room to spread out. 3 adults would not work.

Quality has declined

I've been using a Stormbreak 3 for my solo camping trips for over ten years. It's plenty roomy and I can bring my duffles of gear in as well. The zippers were failing on the old tent body and, rather than replace them, I took advantage of a half off sale on a new Stormbreak 3. First of all, the newer design of the rainfly is maddening. It's impossible to zip/unzip the fly without the zipper catching on the rain flaps. This is especially true from the inside of the tent, because you can't guide the zipper past the flaps. HORRIBLE DESIGN! Second, despite my tender care of my equipment, two of the poles bent beyond repair. Fortunately, I kept my old Stormbreak, so I'm using the old poles and rainfly. When the time comes to replace this pieced-together tent, I will not be buying another Stormbreak.

A Very Solid Tent

Took it out for the first time to Big Bend, and one of the nights we were hit with 30 mph gusts, and it held its own while other tents in the area failed. My only issue is with the zippers, which get stuck often but are a minor issue compared to the overall quality. Easy to set up and very comfortable for 2 people

Roomy and dry, but...

First, it kept us dry through 9 days in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. However, the zippers on the vestibule WILL jam every time they are operated from the inside while wet. Also, they guy ropes were designed to be color coordinated with the tent. Unfortunately, that makes them nearly invisible over rocks and sand.
