Solar powered coloured light inflatable lantern

My son-in-law loved the inflatable solar lantern with coloured lights (birthday gift), it was a great suggestion by the young man at the till when I bought a gift card. It was nice to have an original, useful, affordable gift to go with the gift card. As always, the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Great until it gets holes

I had this item for about 6 months but really only used it for 4 of the 6 when I was guiding treks. Our clients loved it at night once we had set up camp to provide some fun lighting. I would also attach it to the outside of my bag when we did sunrise hikes so clients could follow the glow of the light through the dark. I never had any issue with the solar panel not storing charge. I'd keep it on the outside of my bag as we hiked so it would stay charged. Two things that didn't work: 1) After about 3 months of carrying on my pack and use it developed some pretty small holes in the seal around the top and along the side of it. This caused it to deflate. I tried patching them with gorilla tape, as that's all I had, but never seemed to be able to find all of the little holes. The plastic could be stronger or it could at least some with a patch kit. 2) attaching it to the outside of my bag was the best way to charge it during the day. I attacked a carabiner to the top strap and then hooked that onto my backpack. However, it would constantly flip over so that the solar panel was no longer facing up. That was pretty frustrating. Overall, it's a fun lantern! I ended up leaving it in Guatemala for some local kids to enjoy.

Five years and counting!

I received this as a gift about five years ago now and was inspired to leave a review because of how well it has held up after being put through the wringer! I love this little thing! I've brought it camping, backpacking, paddleboarding, sailing, and traveling. I brought it with me on an igloo camping trip. I've used it in the pool and on the deck for parties. I use it for holiday decorations. It really is surprisingly durable, long-lasting, and just a really fun thing to add to outdoor adventures.

who ever made this is brilliant!

One of my camping friends had two of these and I of course had to have one. That was 3 years ago. Well unfortunately it only lasted 3 years before it wouldn't hold the solar charge. I've got the multi colored one that changes to all colors. They have made it easier to have that preference. Before you had to change it to the nearly white color and now I believe it's as soon as you turn it on. I call it my "make me happy" light!

cool colors,short on battery power

Short battery life. After all day in the sun I only get less than 2 hours use out of it.Maybe that I'm using it in the winter cold.I also have 1 of the single color variety that lasts quite a bit longer.Possibly they could use a slightly larger battery,a few grams of extra weight would hardly be noticed.

Sweet light!

I turn this light on and hang it up in my car before heading out on a run. A few hours later I come back to a nicely illuminated interior.

Take forever to charge

I have looked at buying these for a LONG time. We've used them twice now. They took almost a week to charge 2/3 with a little cloudy morning sun. I almost left a review after this experience The second then we had the chance for 100% full sun to charge, and from 8-3 they charged again to 2/3. I love the light they give off, but was not filly prepared for the amount of recharging time.
