Great value and super comfortable!

I wanted a new pack to replace my entry level Jansport Katahdin purchased in 2011. As a weekend warrior who usually only does 1-2 trips of 5+ days a year the Gregory Zulu 55 is perfect for me! It weighs a pound more than the UL bags from cottage makers, but this is so darn comfortable I don't even notice. Fits my 16lb base weight and plenty of food for a weeklong trip I'm planning in June. And so far it's been amazing on overnight trips around SE Michigan. Pros: really well constructed, great stitching, lots of compression straps, built in daypack (removable hydration sleeve), comes with rain cover, comfy hip belt, excellent value Cons: the orange is very orange, folks w/ cottage industry pro gear may turn up their noses at a pack less than 300 dollars, hip belt pockets could be roomier, drawstring closure mechanism feels really awkward even after dozens of uses, suspension could hold the pack further from the back to improve ventilation. Overall, this pack is an absolutely fantastic value. I don't think it's big enough for a through hike, but for those of us who don't want to tap into their retirement accounts to fund the hobby this is a top notch choice
