Excellent Setup for Bikepacking!
Just returned from a three-day bikepacking trip on Washington's John Wayne Trail. The Salsa EXP Series Cradle and dry bag performed flawlessly. I limited the comtents to just a sleeping bag and (big) air mattress, but I could have stuffed more gear in easily. One day we got rained on pretty heavily, but this bag kept everything bone dry. Setup on the bike was pretty easy. The directions were very easy to follow. Salsa says to limit the cargo weight to eight pounds, but I think that weight limit is a deliberate understatement. I chose to follow the instructions and kept it light. This is a well-made setup, and a good value. Highly recommend. Attached photo shows my my bike (Cooper Dirt) loaded and ready to ride.
Great addition to bikepacking rig
You honestly can't tell from the pic how massive this bag is. It will definitely be able to hold my tent, sleeping bag, and air mat. Maybe even a little more. The dry bag is thick and feels indestructible. Reminds me of a white water raft. The cradle feels solid and mounts very securely to the bars. It has lots of slots and holes for limitless strapping configurations. It mounts via aluminum bars that have cut outs to route cables through. I have caliper brakes so all my cables are in front and had no problem mounting this cage. The only negative comment I could possibly think of was my buddy said it resembles a body bag. Maybe they should change the name :) I just snagged this with my dividend and member coupon so I feel like I stold it. This was the last major piece of gear I needed to complete my set up son now I'm ready to put it to some use.
