Excellent Dry Bag for Bike Touring / Bikepacking

Purchased the Revelate Designs Saltyroll Handlebar Bag for a recent 10-day, 340 mile bike touring and bikepacking trip in southern, UT. I used the dry bag with the Salsa EXP Series Anything Cradle and two 20" Voile straps on my Salsa Beargrease with a Whiskey Parts Co. carbon handlebar (800mm) and it worked flawlessly. I chose to buy and use this dry bag over the Salsa EXP Series Dry Bag that came with the cradle because it's substantially lighter by several ounces and has a slightly narrower profile to help with catching less wind when fully packed with gear. I was able to fit the following gear in it with a small amount of room to spare, with 3 rolls on each side of the dry bag: a MSR Hubba Hubba 1 solo tent (with a Six Moon Designs Tyvek footprint - size small), a Big Agness Rapide SL sleeping pad (size wide, long), and a Nemo Fillo Pillow. The total weight of the dry bag and gear came to exactly 5.5lbs, well below Salsa's max. weight limit for the cradle, which is 8lbs. I could have fit a few more small, compact items in the dry bag, but prefer to keep the weight on my handlebar as low as possible for bike touring/bikepacking to keep the steering smooth and responsive when riding off-pavement. After 10-days of high UV sun exposure (some days with 8 to 12 hours of pedaling in direct sun), wind, rain, and one night of camping with near freezing temps, the dry bag kept everything 100% dry and sand/dust-free. The key of course is to make sure you roll each of the two sides of the dry bag 3 times, per Revelate Designs recommendation. Overall I'm very satisfied with this dry bag's size, performance, and I expect that it'll last for many years. The only minor improvement would be to add an air release valve to vent air when rolling and securing the sides, but it's not a necessary feature if you take your time while packing gear in the bag.

Revelate saltyroll great addition

The Revelate saltyroll bag is a great addition to the Revelate handlebar harness allows access to both ends of the bag and has additionbnal webbing to attach a small front bag or other items to make a really nice setup for bike packing without a heavy harness that some other products have.

Good drybag

Works well. My sleeping bag is very hard to stuff in, but that's my problem. Attaches nicely with 2 ~30" straps with my little front bag still attached - which protects the cables without an additional cradle.

Dependable Bag

This is my second Salty Roll. The bag just works on so many levels: when compressed correctly, its packs easily in any handlebar system, the waterproofness is great, and access to the bag is convenient. When not being using in a drop bar setup, it is amazing how much stuff will fit in it. I am giving it four stars only because it lacks a compression air valve that would make stuffing it a bit easier.
