Lining Made for Slim Fit
The first time I tried on these shorts I found that the lining was tight around my thighs and genitals to the point it hurt a bit to have them on. I'm not super muscular or slim, just average. The waist band was perfect for my size, but the lining is made for a guy with no leg muscles so definitely more of a 'slim fit' rather than the 'semi-fitted' the website advertises. I had to stretch the cord in the thigh holes of the lining in order to loosen it up just so I could try out a run. Even after that the lining was still uncomfortable because of the cord. After running two three milers I decided to not wear these shorts again.
Needs two pockets
With two changes, these shorts would be perfect. First, the shorts need two pockets. If there was a left-hand pocket that was identical to the right-hand pocket, one could carry both a phone and three to five gels, salt tabs, etc. for long-distance training, marathon running, etc. With just one pocket, it is not practical to carry both a phone and more than one or two gels, and even if you carry a gel or two, the used gel packet, with all its gooiness ends up back in the same pocket as your phone. We need two pockets. Second, I would prefer the shorts to be unlined. I have base layer running underwear that works better for me than any lined shorts. I can (and will) cut out the liners, but it seems wasteful to me.
Limited flexibility, and a bit too warm. Will keep using but won't buy again.
These shorts are okay. The material doesn't breath as well as I'm used to, but it does feel pretty sturdy. The biggest issue I have with these shorts is that they limit my flexibility considerably, both moving my knees outward as well as lifting my knees up high. This isn't a complete deal breaker for running since my running form typically stays within the comfortable constraints of these shorts, but stretching in them is not fun. Typically I will just hike them up my thighs so they are essentially briefs in order to have the freedom of movement to stretch.
A+ draw strings
good shorts i like the draw strings they are quite magnificent draw strings and truth be told i haven’t bought a new pair of running shorts in 15 years so imagine two things: how out of the loop i am with the technology of men’s running shorts or how i barely ever washed the 15 year old adidas shorts and have to retire them because, you guessed it, the draw strings are not as good as brooks draw strings or so i’m guessing but stay tuned for 15 years so i can confirm, thanks
Probably good if they fit, but they don't fit me.
As some other reviewers said something was wonky with the cut where the shorts didn't seem to want to move when you pressed forward. It seemed to get a little better if you rolled the waistband but the front rise still seemed too long and there felt like too much bunching fabric in the front. It wasn't *that much longer than my other shorts so I'm not sure what it was. Ended up returning them.
Not enough range of motion
Very comfortable fabric and waistband like other Brooks shorts, but sadly not enough room in the thighs for full range of motion. I really wanted these to work and love my old 5" brooks shorts, but after testing them out on a 25 mile run, they actually made my quads hurt because I couldn't fully extend comfortably. Very disappointed.
Good lightweight shorts
Im 6' and weigh 145 lbs (tall and skinny); I went with the small and they fit well. The light material is good for hiking or running. Length puts them just above my knee like shown in the model photo. Only slight complaint is they can be a little restrictive when I take really high steps or do lunges.
Brief,ugh
Liner is not good for me,brief for one, rubs wrong for 2,if it was a short boxer liner maybe, but I ripped out the brief liner and run my own boxer tight underwear, I think being speeate is better anyway, but I like the shorts, wish I had a few colors and lightweight
Only 1 issue… otherwise very good shorts
Great shorts. Length is accurate. Size is true (as far as I can tell). Only negative it the draw string can slip into the shorts relatively easily (I had to fish it out with a coat hanger wire a couple of times). So keep them tied during washing, etc.
Good shorts, but not for thick boi legs
The shorts are light and the liner makes it feel like you're running wearing air (if that makes sense). I have thicker thighs and these ride up to make them 3" shorts. I don't mind it is just they're meant for guys with thin legs.
