Brooks  Breakaway 3" Shorts - Men's

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mens Breakaway Shorts from Brooks come in the eye catching Neo Limeade shade of green. This pop of color will help you stand out to any passerby while you’re out training for the next race, or just getting a few miles in. The upper mid-thigh length design with the split side hem helps to have no issues with chaffing or fabric irritation. The fabric is a polyester spandex mix that is wonderfully breathable and can give and stretch whenever needed. It comes with two small pockets for a key or card storage. My very favorite features that stood out above all were the elastic/drawstring waist band and the added inner liner. Those two kept me feel secure throughout my run without added fussing or adjustment.

Since shorter casual shorts are coming back into style, I'm not as self-conscious wearing shorter running shorts. These are nice for hot summer morning runs, comfortable and cool, and dry fast, especially with a light breeze. An inside pocket in the left front can hold keys or ID, while a zipper pocket on the left seam can hold a mid-run snack or a couple of gels without falling out, and they're easy to reach. Like the Sherpas, I still have a little trouble with the waistband rolling on me, but I think that's due to the "notch" in my waist rather than the shorts themselves. I now have these both in black and limeade and may get the neo blue soon.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What can I saw. These 3” breakaway shorts are nothing short of sexy and functional. For more experienced runners, you begin to notice that longer lengths shorts become obtrusive and somewhat restrictive. I found myself typically running in an old pair of 5” PT shorts that I got issues from the Navy. I thought 5” was sufficient. Then I tried a pair of the 3” breakaways and my goodness, what a difference. These 3” breakaways make you feel faster, stronger, and they look stylish. The added bonus of the 3” length is that the shorts don’t feel restrictive or obtrusive particularly during long distances runs. These shorts feel, well, freeing. I’d recommended these not only to more experienced, seasoned runners, but also to new runners who want that “seasoned runner” look and feel!

My only problem was with the waistband curling because of the "notch" in my own waist. But training for a marathon I lost a few pounds and my notch is less noticeable. So when the neo blue color went on sale, I ordered a pair in that color, too. In Mississippi's heat and humidity, they are cool and comfortable; and since winter weather comes in days around here, I get chances to wear them pretty much year-round! I like the inner pocket for keys and the side zip pocket for a couple of gels on a longer run. Now I give it five stars instead of four!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been looking for a new pair of running shorts for a while and recently received the Brooks Breakaway shorts. I have been wearing them the last few weeks and am reasonably happy with them. The good: There is a small pocket on the side to hold keys, gels or other small objects. They are very comfortable and supportive with lightweight material. I didn’t experience any chaffing or discomfort while running in these shorts. I typically wear a size small and these are true to size. The bad: The material is very thin and if they get wet, can be a bit see-through and revealing. I have a lime-greenish pair but a darker pair may not be as sheer. Overall, I’m very happy with these shorts and will continue to wear them regularly. Just not in the rain. The jury is still out on whether I’ll be able to wear them on hot summer days when there is considerable chance for a lot of sweat.

The lightweight fabric kept me cool and comfortable the whole week. Whether I was on a trail run or running around with my kiddos in the parks, I was super comfortable! I didn’t experience any chaffing and I loved the color.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Trying to keep myself up with my new years goal on running for more than a casual stroll with these quirky neon yellow shorts by Men's Breakaway 3". I adore them to bits and have been using it every time I go for my evening runs and small workouts indoors. The fit keeps my body covered and the gap for the legs doesn't feel tight so it's a smooth flight to run land with them! I will say the dandy pocket on the left leg is sleek and has a zipper, which I keep my keys right inside. The design is nice with a comfortable breathable fabric, not to mention that it's not itchy either which is a plus for me. I would say that any smaller cons is that it would be nice having two pockets other than one since it's nice to pack the essentials for a stroll. Also would be great if it was possibly an inch longer from the back. Either way, this is a great pair of shorts in any active occasions. Even though it's labeled for men's, I see it as a win for styling either gender regardless. It's plenty of leg room which I truly love for my runs!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brooks Breakaway 3” short is a fantastic warm weather race-day option for those that are self-assured with their body image. These shorts are as minimal as they could possibly be, which is great for those seeking a super lightweight and breathable short. The polyester fabric is very sheer and privacy is limited to only the built in brief liner. The sides of the shorts are made of a transparent breathable mesh. You barely notice that you are wearing these shorts which makes them ideal for hot weather races and training days. What I love about these shorts is that they included a small interior pocket on the front left and a zippered pocket on the upper left hip. The interior pocket can easily hold a key fob, keys, ID card, or credit/debit card. The hip pocket works perfect for carrying up to at least three gels. A super minimal short having these pockets is fantastic! I also love the very bright and noticeable Neo Limeade color. My single reservation with these shorts is feeling comfortable wearing something so minimal. The size medium fits my 32” waist perfectly, but having put on a few extra pounds during the winter months certainly makes me feel self-conscious wearing a short so minimal at the moment. As I increase my run mileage going into the spring months and my self confidence grows, I know I will be comfortable in these shorts as I get into racing shape. In conclusion, I would strongly recommend the Brooks Breakaway 3” short to any self-confident person looking for a minimal race short.
