Comfortable and useful running shorts, great for race day

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have about 25 miles in these shorts and I love them. They’re comfortable and light. I’m 5’8” and the 5” length is great for my body-type and preference. The pockets are useful and out of the way. There’s one zippered pocked in the back, four elastic pockets that sit towards the back of my hips, and one internal pocket. The elastic pockets are great for quick grabs like gels. I’m usually a size 34 waist in my pants and the medium shorts are a great fit. They don’t sag or shift much at all when tied down. Overall these shorts feel minimal while still providing plenty of options to carry basics.

I Needed These Shorts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You know when you have a favorite pair of running shorts that you have worn for years and years and you can't quite find the right replacement? I have been running in a pair of Brooks shorts for close to a decade. As a long-distance runner, I need shorts that are going to go the distance! First, my favorite feature of these shorts is the numerous pockets along the comfortable waistband (including a zipper pocket). The smooth design of the elastic waistband is very comfortable even with things in the pockets. Second of all, the built-in liner compression type shorts are a good fit while not being too tight. Finally, I expect the material of these shorts are going to last me another decade of fitness!

Great Hidden Pockets

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Aside from being slightly snug (not enough to not wear), these are great for my casual runs. The shorts are just the right length to not get in the way, yet no rubbing or chaffing. The hidden zippered pockets are great for hiding money or an ID. They aren't the warmest if you are running on a chilly day, but they aren't letting me freeze either. They do later nice too so I can wear thin compression tights underneath without issue. The color is masculine too and matches most of my clothing. I've really got no complaints comfort wise, so just know to size up a little bit.

Fine, but the old shorts were better

I think if I hadn’t used the old version I would be fine with these shorts, but the old version was better in my opinion. While the lining in these are fine, I like the briefs lining better. And with that, the phone pocket was SO much better in the old shorts. I don’t like the placement of the phone above the butt. It’s hard to get in and out while running and it bounces more than when it was in the leg pocket of the briefs. Also, the 5” inseam seems shorter on these than the old ones. Sorry, I don’t mean to be a hater, but it’s just frustrating when a company has an awesome product and then they update it with a worse version.

Great Fit - Great Look

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the new pair of Journey 5 Inch Shorts the other month. They have become my new go-to workout short. Since its the winter here in Chicago, I am doing all my workouts inside, but they would definitely be great to wear outside too. The length is great, just short enough but not too short!. The lining is also great. They are very light and comfortable which I love. The style is perfect too. Not too flashy which I love as well. I am thinking of purchasing another pair in a different color as well. Great short!

Brooks Mens Journey 5" Short

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband absolutely loves these shorts. We both ran throughout high school and college. So, even though we’re not currently competitive runners, we’re both still built that way. As a result, my husband has a hard time finding shorts that accommodate his running/biking leg muscles. Usually, shorts are too tight to be comfortable to exercise in or even to wear casually, but these Brooks shorts are great! He has really good range of motion and the length of the shorts makes them easier to wear than traditional men’s short shorts. The fabric is really buttery and has held up to our washing machine very well. We typically hang dry running clothes like this to keep the fabric in top condition for as long as we can. The colors and pattern are great and work to hide sweat and dirt. I think the only area that he would improve is the liner fitting, but it’s not bad enough to be a complaint! Definitely recommend trying these shorts!!!

Comfort with every mile

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brooks Mens Journey 5" Short have a great fit, with a comfortable band and flattering flowing cut. The shorts breathe well and the fabric is nice and smooth to prevent chaffing while you are moving. I really like the fabric design, the multi charcoal/black line pattern is nice but not too loud. The functionality is excellent on these shorts with a zip pouch for keys at the middle back and two open elastic pockets for gels on either side. These shorts do their job of staying comfortable while you are running. Brooks makes really good running gear and these are no exception.

About to be my #1

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always been a life long runner. Whether it be running competitively or leisurely, I have never hesitated when it comes to the Brooks brand. Upon sliding the shorts up I knew they were the ones. The feel of them is compared to no other. With the shorts being drawstring it allows you the freedom to fit the shorts around the waist as desired, huge plus. When it comes to the design of the shorts, the light and dark grey contrast each other exceptionally and make the short look very sleek while sporting style. I love that. Don’t even get me started on the fabric. I have searched ages to find a short with a very lightweight yet comfortable to the skin fabric and this short from the Brooks brand checks all the boxes. For myself personally what I find most like-able about these shorts is the ultralight weight to them and the sleek look as well. If there was one thing I were to change it would be the mesh lining on the inside of the shorts. At times as sweat secretes from the body the mesh material is not the friendliest with the skin and sweat.

Soft material/runs large

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The material of these 5 inch journey shorts is very soft and breathable. Currently using these shorts for indoor running only since the weather is quite cold in the Northeast, but I imagine these will be great for keeping cool and dry on a hot day. The pattern adds a bit of interest, while still matching many of my dry fit work out shirts. There is a nice reflective logo located on the front. The back zip pocket is great for keeping a phone or keys safe during a run. There are also several mesh pockets along the back and sides just below the waist band. I feel these pockets arent very useful as they are open along the top. I have not utilized these pockets as I could forsee losing any item kept in these pockets during a run. The 5 inch length is on the shorter side, however I don't feel too exposed or feel that these are too short. I did find these shorts to run big. The size large was looser than expected on someone who is 6ft 190lbs. The shorts were quite loose through the crotch and thighs. I believe these shorts would fit better had I sized down.

Comfortable training shorts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have became an avid runner in the past year and I am embarrassed to say these are the first shorts I have used to train in, I live in an area that isn’t very warm at any time of year and I have became accustomed to joggers and sweatpants but I can honestly say these have been a game changer for me and I will never go back. I was intimidated at how small the looked at first but I loved the above the knee fit, they are lightweight and make a huge difference in the way I’m able to move. I love these shorts and I am recommending them to everyone I know into running.
