The fabric feels really lightweight and breathable, especially once you start sweating, and it does not get heavy or clingy during a run. I also like the built-in brief liner which I never really used before. It gives enough support that I likely do not need to wear separate briefs, but it still feels light and comfortable instead of tight or restrictive. The pocket is useful and holds my keys securely without much bouncing. Overall, these have been great for daily runs and gym use. They stay cool, fit well, and have the right amount of support and storage without feeling bulky.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Brooks Mens Dash Cooling Short are a breezy delight. I ordered my normal size, and they fit exactly as I expected them to. These last few weeks have been extremely hot, yet these shorts have helped me stay a bit cooler on my runs allowing the air to flow. Having a large Samsung phone in a large case did make it so I could not put it in the zipper pocket, yet I was able to have my house key in there which I like as its is secured. The material for these shorts is light, smooth and best part is they are not scratchy on my runs. These Brooks shorts have become my favorite running shorts and shortly will be yours as well.

My running routine is typically a 15 minute treadmill warmup before weight lifting, and another 15 minutes when I need a break. I always feel weighed down by my heavy, baggy, gym shorts, so I was excited to finally give the men’s dash cooling short a try. They actually look pretty sleek. The mesh immediately feels extremely cool and breathable, which is great when you’re working up a sweat. The material is only slightly stiff, which is notable to the fingertips but on the thighs feels fine. The inner lining is nicely supportive, but does ride up slightly. There’s a small zipper pocket in the center back which opens and closes easily, and can easily fit a key or credit card for runs on the go, but is too small for a large cell phone. I was a little self conscious when lifting afterward as the shorts do tend to ride up a bit high on the thigh when you sit/lay and your legs are spread, and didn’t want to be indecent. So these shorts are probably better left for dedicated running sessions, but at that task, they do excel! (As long as you have somewhere to put your phone.)

They're incredibly lightweight and breathable. it honestly feels like you're barely wearing anything. The outer layer is loose and made from a thin, ventilated fabric that keeps you cool, while the built-in compression liner provides great support without feeling restrictive. The two layer design is perfect for running and stays comfortable even on longer workouts. I wore them to a theme park and man was it a lifesaver. Orlando summer is brutal and it made it manageable. They also dry super fast after the wet rides. Another feature I really appreciate is the zippered pocket on the back. At first I didn't even notice it, but it's the perfect spot for a key, ID, or a small wallet. I actually prefer it being on the back instead of the sides because anything carried on the side tends to bounce against your leg while running. The zipper keeps everything secure, so you don't have to worry about losing anything during a run. Overall, these shorts are extremely comfortable, breathable, and clearly designed with runners in mind. A perfect outfit choice for runners or running errands in the summer. I'm not big on shorts usually but these make it so nice to wear.

I found these shorts most comfortable when paired with breathable boxer briefs rather than traditional boxers or going without underwear. From a style standpoint, these shorts look great.
