Many sleeping bags are rated for temperature by an independent testing protocol, the European Norm (EN) 13537. Each bag gets two ratings: a Comfort rating and Lower Limit rating. The Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average woman (or "cold sleeper") comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep an average man (or "warm sleeper") comfortable. Everyone's body and sleep comfort is different, so EN Ratings are merely a guideline to help you compare products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice, but ... Let me begin by saying, this is a lovely sleeping bag. Light, warm, and I for one just love this year's color! Unfortunately, it was just too constricting for me. I had room just barely to bend one of my knees a bit, but no more. In order to sit crosslegged in the bag, I had to scootch up pretty much to the top of the bag. This is not so much a problem for side sleepers, as if you bend both knees the same way the bag just bends with you; but if you need to move your legs a bit before drifting off ... I imagine most lightweight mummy bags are like this, which is why I bought a Nemo "spoon-shaped" bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bag I bought this bag about a year ago and it has since seen many adventures. I'm a bit of a fair weather backpacker so I can't speak to how well it performs under wet conditions although when kept in a dry bag and taking care to not get too much on it in the tent it seemed to withstand the wet weekend we just had. This bag keeps me super toasty - I haven't been cold once and that includes multiple nights on snow. Only complaint is that the lime green color I bought it in shows dirt really easily but that's never really the point (:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bag I always used to sleep cold when I went backpacking, but never again! Plus if your husband/significant other gets the marmot sawtooth bag, they zip together perfectly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect sleeping bag! I bought this bag a couple of years ago, and it has seen quite a few camping trips. It has never disappointed me in terms of warmth. It's actually my second version of the bag. I had an issue with the first where one of the seams ripped out and feathers exploded everywhere, but rei took it back and gave me a new one and I haven't had this issue yet with my current one. There is a bit of tightness around my knees, but I sleep on my side so it isn't an issue. I am 5'6 And have the long, and am able to fit a sea to summit pillow in the hood. All in all I definitely recommend this bag!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from totally worth it! This is my first woman-specific bag & the design features were immediately beneficial to giving me a good night's sleep! I hiked the AT from WV-ME with this bag & even when some of the down shifted or clumped, I still could stay warm. I'm 5ft 11 and was concerned that this bag would be too small, but it's spacious enough for me (even as a Demi-side sleeper). The double zipper makes changing in shelters a breeze & the color is obviously perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfectly Warm Glad I spent the extra money for this bag! I am 5'7 110lbs and purchased the long. I purchased this for backpacking and get cold easily and sleep on my side and this bag is great. There is enough padding on the back to keep we warm at night and love the added features in this bag. Fits perfectly in the sleeping bag compartment of my Osprey Kyte 36 Pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I could use it more! LIKES: Great fabric! Great color! Super warm! I wish I could use it more but it is so warm and I live and camp often in Texas so with the warmth I don't get to use it as often as I would like because it is so comfortable, soft and plush! I'm 5'9" and 140lbs so I got the long size. It fits me great and I love the way the foot of this sleeping bag is shaped to box in the feet but not restricting in the foot area no matter how you sleep but still keeps my feel nice and warm. I can tell it has increased insulation for the female figure and it definitely makes a difference. I am a female who is cold all of the type and loves to snuggle up in thick warm bedding to fall asleep. This bag fits that bill. I haven't gotten it wet but in muggy conditions inside my tent I haven't noticed the down clumping or losing any loft at all. No cold spots with the way the fabric and down fills the spaces around the body without the down shifting or the bag being too restrictive. Lots of room in most of the bag to sleep on side, stomach or back for me as I move around a lot while I sleep. The bag compresses down fairly small and is pretty light weight for backpacking. I have room to spare when I pack it in the sleeping bag compartment in my Osprey Aura 65 bag. Zippers are a big thing for me and I haven't had problems like snagging or drafts with the zippers on this bag. Seals tightly around the neck and head area to create a great seal to keep warmth in when needed. I really am impressed with where the seams are as they are not uncomfortable and keep more heat in. Nice stash pocket. Great warm bag! DISLIKES: The mummy shape of this bag can be a little restricting around the knee and shin area. The way I sleep it doesn't really bother me unless I am moving around a lot to change positions and even then I don't really notice it. I could see how some people with certain sleeping positions or habits or different body types how this could be a problem. I have had quite a few feathers come through the fabric but not at an alarming rate or much more than my favorite down pillow.

If I am 5'4" and I plan to put my clothes in the bottom of my bag or a hot water bottle and I put my camp pillow inside the hood, should I have a regular or long?

Asked by: Kim the Camper
I'm 5'10 and have the long and am able to sleep with the sea to summit large inflatable pillow within the hood as well as keep a few items of clothing at the foot. Hope this helps! (:

Is the outer material of this sleeping bag coated with durable water repellant (DWR) to help protect it from getting wet when rubbing against the inside of tent walls that may have accumulated condensation throughout the night?

Asked by: NationalParksBound
Yes, the outer material has a DWR treatment.

I tried the Marmot Ouray regular length bag in store and felt I had enough room to move around. How does this one's shape (width) compare? I also am unsure if i should go for the long or regular. I am 5' 9'' but the regular in the Ouray fit fine.

Asked by: Soleil18
The Angel Fire and the Ouray sleeping bags have similar widths so they should fit the same if you order the same size that you had tried on in store. We suggest ordering a long if you are 5' 9".

I am 5'6.5" and trying to decide between a regular and long length bag - what do you think?

Asked by: travelingwest
If you sleep mostly on your back, you may want go with the longer length. If you sleeping mostly on your side and/or curled up, go with the regular length.

I just bought this bag and there are already feathers escaping from tiny tiny holes in the bag. Is this normal? How many are normal to be escaping? It seems like as soon as one feather comes out of one hole, another one appears to start escaping too.

Asked by: Northern Elle
Down feathers escaping from sleeping bags such as the Angel Fire is normal. The sharp quills of the feathers may poke through, especially when the bag is new and the down hasn't totally settled. Work the feathers gently back inside, pulling from the opposite side; the holes should be minimal and close back up.

I'm 5'8 170lbs and I'm currently using a marmot men's bag, regular length. I wasn't sure if I should order this women's bag in a long or regular, as women's bags are often more snug.

Asked by: Christina
Based on your height, we recommend a long length.

My boyfriend is 5'10" and I am 5'4". We would both like to get this bag so we can link them but it seems we should get different lengths- can you link the regular left to the long right bag?

Asked by: mirandalynn
They can be zipped together, but because of the length difference there will be open spots where the bags don't match up. Also, anytime you zip sleeping bags together the temperature ratings are no longer valid because that is not how they are tested individually.

I have this sleeping bag, and I want to clean it, but I've used it so much that the care instructions have rubbed off. How should I wash it? Thanks.
