Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome little bag This bag is exactly what I was looking for. It is not easy to find a small bag that is lightweight and well constructed. It has compartments for all the essentials, e.g. passport, laptop, phone, keys etc. There is a zipped area. For some reason many other bags have too much padding on the straps and on the back to the point they become stiff and bulky. Not this bag! It does have enough padding on shoulder straps and for electronics. However, the construction is still light enough not to add unneeded extra weight. It is functional for my short hikes in the area so that I can put in it a bottle of water, rain jacket, wallet, keys and phone. It can be used as an everyday travel bag too. In addition there is RFID blocking compartment. Note: Once you put your credit cards, driver's license and passport inside RFID blocking compartment, RFID readers cannot access and steal your personal information embedded in these cards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Yes and no This backpack replaces an old, but loved Swiss army brand backpack of the same size that is worn out after years of use. I prefer the eagle creek weight and overall profile. However, I would pay more for a few more features such as: pen holders for at least three pens, pencils and sharpies, another change sized skippered pocket. The location of the security pocket and cell phone pocket is wrong. It is located on the center divider in the small divider pocket. I would sew it to the divider between the small and large compartment. This trouble with the present location is that it is difficult to jam a phone, small wallet or passport in a divider that is floppy. Putting it on the divider between the two main backpack mail compartments will give it more stability as well as more security.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More comfortable than a big purse I have used this mini backpack yet but it is exactly what I was looking for. I had another similar sized backpack from Eagle Creek that I used for about 15 years before wearing out. I used more other one as a day pack when a diaper bag was no longer needed for my children but a lot of "stuff" was still needed the day such as snacks, small first aid kit, and an extra t-shirt or jacket. Plan to use this mini backpack for my personal item on flights, the beach, short hikes, Disney and other trips. To me, a backpack is more comfortable to carry all day than dragging around a large purse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect choice Just spent 2 weeks traveling in Italy. I pack very lightly, one soft roller bag as a carry on, and this back pack. It was perfect. During the day it easily & securly held my money, cards & ID. Sunglasses & H2O bottle in side pockets. Enough room to store my light down jacket or sweater if I didn't need it. Highly recommend, so glad I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Small Backpack that Holds a Lot! I love this backpack! I use it for my small personal bag on trips by plane, train and automobile. I am able to carry all my important electronics (medium tablet with keyboard, DSLR camera, pocket camera, largish cell phone, mouse, mousepad, extra small drives and accessories), power cords, and Kindle, as well as a flat ID device that all contains all my ID, a tiny make-up bag, a bottle of water, travel size salt shaker, flashlight, tissue pack, keys, sunglasses, a bit of jewelry, and more! In other words, all my valuables. :) It packs all those things well with the various pockets inside and out. It looks fantastic (I got the brown one with orange trim), and it is not too heavy, even fully loaded like I outlined above. However, it is a bit of a tight fit to include the fattish DSLR along with tablet with keyboard, Kindle, etc. in the main compartment. A teensy bit deeper main compartment would be preferable, mostly to accommodate the DSLR. The only other issue I have had with this backpack design is not the fault of basic backpack design, but new rules at art museums. Many museums now require one to wear your backpack on your front(!), and I find that to be a completely uncomfortable and awkward way to wear this (as I'm sure it must be for most backpacks). Perhaps having a way to wear it over one shoulder (like the much huger purses some people carry into museums), with perhaps a detachable strap, or a way to hide one strap, would be a plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect tiny backpack I took this backpack (which my dad and I fondly nicknamed "the Bug") on a college trip to Bali, Indonesia in May. I had wanted the perfect bag that I could use as a carry-on on the way there but that could also pass as a "personal item" by the airline's standards (in other words, able to fit under the seat in front of me). This bag works perfectly as a personal item for Singapore Airlines and there were no issues - it fit everything I needed in a carry-on but was small enough to hold in my lap. While in Bali, the bag worked great. At one time it fit a 1-liter water bottle and a bunched up sarong plus loads more and didn't even feel heavy on my back. It's well padded and very compact. Went everywhere with me!. I highly recommend the Bug for anyone who wants the perfect daypack or travel bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love Backpacks Every time Eagle Creek comes out with an updated Travel Bug I snatch it up! I love the travel bugs, they are small enough to not be over bearing but enough room for me to use them as a purse. I love backpack styles instead of purse styles. My only complaint with this bag is that I cannot really use the outside zip pocket for credit cards etc because there is no real security with the zipper, so I have to carry a wallet and keep it secured in the main zipper pocket. This bag is well made and holds up to alot of abuse. I got the grey and orange and it is very handsome looking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite as wonderful as my last one . . . which was a bit smaller, and slightly more functional. That said, this is better than anything I've been able to locate to use as a purse/mini-backpack, ready for local walks or foreign travel. 'Not sure why others say the outer pocket isn't secure, as there's a loop at the top where a small lock could be secured through the zipper's ring. Though I'm mourning the shabbiness (and unavailability of an identical replacement) of my previous Eagle Creek mini-backpack, I'm calling this an adequate substitute.

Hello, Are there elastic loops to hold the excess lenth of the shoulder straps after you tighten them so they arent hanging down? Thank you!

Asked by: LD19
There are not elastic loops to secure the excess length of the shoulder straps on this pack, you are able to tie them which will cut down on the excess length.

What size bottles can you fit in the side pocket? Will a plastic water bottle like those that fit bike bottle racks fit? Thanks!

Asked by: tribeadgirl
Water bottles with a smaller diameter like those fitting bike bottle cages will fit inside the pockets on the Travel Bug Mini Pack. A 32 Nalgene bottle (3.25 inch diameter) is too big.
