Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great but functions only okay I've used this about 10 times now and I already have plans to take it back and get one of the ones that hold the bike by the tires. Some issues are that the seat tube support doesn't work well with water bottle cages, cabling under the top tube gets caught trying to mount the bike, two bikes are an incredibly tight fit, and the main hinge mechanism is right above my hood and falls directly in my line of sight out of my back window while driving. It looks slick though so at least it's got that going for it. I also though it was cool that it bolts to the hitch instead of just using a pin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thule bike rack for Prius Best rack ever, after going to U-Haul and having a tow hitch installed to hold the bike hitch rack by Thule. Very easy to install and operate. Got this for my wife's car and her new bike. She can operate it with ease and get my bike and hers on and off with no problems. Wish I knew about the lock for the rack to tow bar at time of purchase. NICE Rack

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Concerns We were excited to use this product on our trailer but, in reading and researching the use of this on a towed vehicle, we found out that it was not recommended. There is too much vibration and movement on a towed vehicle and damage to the vehicle, bike, and/or bike rack has happened. The rack will work fine on our SUV due to the fact that there is much less vibration to the rack itself. There was a warning in the directions, but we were reassured by the sales person, that attaching to the hitch on the backend of our trailer would not be a problem. Very disappointed, as we were going camping the week after we got the rack and then found we could not/should not use it on the trailer! We would recommend this bike rack for use on an auto ONLY!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Touring and fatbike friendly I've had this rack for a month on my Honda Element. I've installed and removed it several times - easy to do. I didn't do a lot of research before hand but feel like I lucked out. I have a fatbike and a touring bike with a big saddlebag and front basket on it. By moving the "pads" the bikes rest on apart, in able to fit both these cumbersome bikes on the rack. It sounds like this is probably the best Thule hitch rack for fitting such a pair. Super easy to use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very easy for people to steal your bike. The piece that locks your bike to this can be cut very easily and your bikes can get stolen.

On the Thule Vertex XT 2, does the Cable Lock actually lock the bikes to the Bike Rack? What keeps the bottom of the bikes from rocking back & forth & hitting each other or the rack?

Asked by: NormD
Yes, the integrated cable lock included with the Vertex XT 2 is designed to secure the bikes to the rack. The included Anti-Sway Cages prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-vehicle contact.

I would like to attach this bike rack to the back of a Little Guy camper. How much clearance is needed from ground to hitch for this to work securely. Also I read a review that mentioned RV vibration. How do this affect the rack?

Asked by: FRan
Thule does not recommend attaching any of their hitch rack to RVs, campers and other towable vehicles.

Has anyone used this with a mountain bike? I got the yakima ridgeback which seems very similar but the bike swings too much and never feels secure enough even with a bar. Also scratched my bike... It doesnt have the rubber straps and vertical connector.

Asked by: Syrus
The Vertex XT 2 Bike Hitch Rack has an anti-sway feature that keeps your bike secure and stable while you are driving.

How easy is removal? When I'm out biking I plan on taking the rack off and putting it in the back of my car so I don't have to worry about people stealing it.

Asked by: Khaskins23
Installation and removal for this bike rack is very easy. We also recommend purchasing the Thule Snug-Tite Lock II to prevent theft of the rack. https://www.rei.com/product/755164/thule-snug-tite-lock-ii

Does this rack hold non-conforming frames (women's bikes) or is an adaptor needed like I've seen for other bike racks?

Asked by: Mandolyn
A Thule frame adapter is required for women's bikes, kid's bikes and bikes with a step-through frame. https://www.rei.com/product/816691/thule-frame-adapter-xt
