I've had them all, Khyber, Mammoth, VelociRax and this ReVert 6 is the worst of all. The only rack that sucks more than this thing is the North Shore. Here are a list of issues: 1. The hitch lock is insanely stupid. Who would feel good about $30,000+ of bikes held on the truck with a clamp and a half pin that doesn't lock at all. 2. The hitch clamp might be some of the worst designing I have ever seem. I've had the T2 with the knob and it is way better than this crank arm that you can only do a half turn before resetting. 3. The rack isn't wide enough and bikes rub over any bump 4. You need to be a super human to lower the rack down/ raise it up loaded. But at the same time, the spring pops the rack up empty so aggressively that my kid almost broke his nose. In summary, it isn't trust worthy, it doesn't keep the bikes safe from rubbing and it sucks to load. I need to get a 4 bike also and I was planning another ReVert. However, after two weeks with this junk show I will find another option. IMHO VelociRAX is the best bang for your buck.
I have now cracked a second basket in under a year of use.(Thule did send a free replacement) We also have cracked two straps. Once caused a bike to fall off. I'm not sure this rack will hold up long term. The main post needs constant tightening. I'm sure this rack is fine to use a few times a year on paved roads. But, it's not up to the task of shuttling up and down forest service roads.
This rack makes loading Enduro and even E-Bikes a breeze. The integrated lock (add-on) is a must, and the bike repair (wash) stand is also a great addition.
This is my 3 rd Thule product. I have a 2018 4 Runner with roof rack a ski box and now the Revert. The ReVert is an excellent rack. I bought it on line and assembled it at home. The assembly was straight forward and required no tools other than what was provided. It took exactly 1 tall can of beer to assemble. The use of the ReVert it’s very convenient. Easy to load bikes easy to raise and lower with bikes on to get a was to the back of the SUV. My 10 year old son has learned to lower and remove his own bike. My wife likes the simplicity of the system. Since the purchase I also bought the 20” and 24” wheel adapter and the integrated bike lock system. Thanks Thule for making a stylish, easy and secure way to transport the bikes we ride as a family.
We use this rack at least 3 x a week on our new Honda passport, fits amazing, so user friendly and 100% recommend. We debated and researched cheaper racks but the hydraulic assist when you have 4-6 bikes on there is just effortless.
I bought this just about a year ago and very happy. Long trips no problem and excellent quality.
We needed the capability for at least 5 bikes in the future, which limits the options of racks. the hanging kind had way too much contact between bikes even with only 4, and it's challenging with kid bikes. The tray kind was awesome except it maxes out at 4 bikes. This was new too the market and we were very excited to try it. we tried with 2 adult and 2 kid bikes (24" trail and 20" std kids). in theory it is awesome and there was no contact between bikes with very minimal effort (rotating the pedals). however, even with the recommended adapters for the 20" and 24" bikes (the 24 may not have even needed it), there was no way to put the 20" on without the fork hitting the rack basket due to the wheel size. this is really unfortunate because almost everything else was awesome- easy to pull down and lift back up, nice to be able to put on and off in varying order, doesn't stick as far out from car as the tray kind. the only other complaint I would have is that the hitch pin itself does not lock, nor does the pin go all the way through. it is held in place with a friction fit and then the pin engages only a little bit on one side. the hole in the rack doesn't even go all the way through. I think this is less than ideal. the lock mechanism is on the component used to tighten the hitch piece.
Ive taken this out on three multiday trips so far. We have a four person family, but wanted some extra capacity for friends or to take our gravel and mountain bikes on longer trips. This is a great rack - solid, simple to put on the vehicle with all the high quality components you’d expect from Thule. Nothing is chintzy. It’s slick and runs smooth and probably the best rack you can buy for 6 bike hitch set up - who doesn’t want a little pneumatic “help” to lift bikes after a long day of riding? This rack could be perfect (to me) with a few minor tweaks. Take my opinions below with a grain of salt: - it’s super solid, but this quality means it’s HEAVY. Well duh, you say, it holds six bikes! Yep, you’re right but that doesn’t mean it’s any easier for me to get on/off a vehicle by myself. It’s probably doable, but I always get help to avoid any catastrophic back-window-smashing. I get the solid construction = weight, but if the bright minds at Thule devise a way to shed any kilos in the future it’d be a bonus. - the arm controlling the pneumatics could be longer. Yep, that’d mean more weight (see above) but I find it can be tricky to reach through six L/XL frame bikes on there. The pad on it is ergonomic and really helpful, though. Maybe I’m just a t-rex. - the pneumatic lock out pin is not reachable from the rear position you’d be in to use the lowering arm. So many times Ive gone to lower the rack, realize I forgot to remove the lock pin and have to walk around the rack to get between the vehicle/rack, and then walk back around to the back of the rack to use the lowering arm. Not a huge deal, but if there was ever a way to devise a location for the pin on the same face as the lowering arm it’d be nice for the small-brains like me. - not fatbike compatible unless you purchase separate kits. Sucks because you just spent a wallop of money on this rack already and also at time of purchase the kits weren’t available (think they are now, and that’s why I’m on the site today). Luckily we still have our Pro XT we can use for fat bikes, but an “everything” rack is what all consumers lust for. Now that those are out of the way, these are some bonuses you may not appreciate unless you pull the trigger and actually use this: - my 7/9 year old can remove their own bikes from this once rack is lowered. They’re not quite strong enough to lift them on yet, but what a bonus for parents used to doing all the work in the lot (adult bikes can be rolled straight on with no lifting depending on the height of your hitch) - the rubberized tie downs are a dream. We also have a ProXT and the ratchet straps on that can be cumbersome, especially in the cold. The straps on this are easy to do with shaky or cold hands. Even the kids can do them up. - compared to the Pro XT, this holds the bikes higher which means we get less road salt and gunk kicked up on our cassettes. Love me a rack that loves my bikes. - Speaking of crud, we find it’s faster and easier to spray off the bikes in the wand car wash because we can get them from 3 sides - with the ProXT we had to be cautious about clearance. Not an issue with this one as the rack slopes up from the hitch so much. We’ve taken this to Rec Sites and up logging roads with zero issue - the van will bottom out long before the rack will - the addition of the pneumatic “help” to lift the rack is amazing. Seriously. Game changer. I can lift six bikes with *very little* effort. Cheers to Thule for this, my end of day shaky arms thank you. - no, our bikes do not rub together. I just bought a Specialized Turbo Levo and I am PRECIOUS about its beautiful lavender paint - zero concerns with this rack with a mix of youth/adult bikes. We’ve yet to have 6 all adult bikes on it. So there’s the straight goods. If I had to buy a rack again I’d go right back to this one.
Decent build and design but didn't work with my kid's bikes. It was also on the heavy side. Went with a Lolo Rack.
